PROJECTS Experimental Boiling Heat Transfer in Flat Plate Collector Performed a state*of*the art review on design methodologies from various literat ures. Designed a flat plate collector to run an absorption cycle using ammonia a nd calcium chloride. The design was made to handle one pound of ammonia. Further experiments were done to validate the design and research was done on the boili ng heat transfer that took place during the process. Work was done to correlate the system for ammonia and water. Refrigeration Cycle Analysis Analyzed the vapor refrigeration cycle using R134a as a working fluid. Condenser and evaporator were designed to minimize pressure drop and provided the most ef ficient system. Coefficient of Performance, thermal efficiency and power require ments were all calculated in the design process. EES software and Excel were use

d to run iterations until an optimized design was achieved. Power Generation on the Moon from Helium-3 Analyzed the feasibility of power generation on the moon from helium-3. Calculat ed the amount of lunar soil to be mined and burned using solar concentrators on the moon, for extracting helium-3 from it to be used in nuclear fusion reactions for producing electricity to be used by a base camp to set up on moon. Graphic Board GPU Cooling Design The purpose of this project is to design a heat sink that can minimize the heat generated from the GPU and minimize the cost. Various sizes of the heat sink and thermal grease were taken into consideration into the design. EES software was used for this project and performed numerous iterations until the optimized desi gn was achieved. REFERENCES: Available on request
