An essay: Education

Your class is doing a project about education. Your teacher asks you to write about education in a country
you know. Write about:

• what you think is good and bad about education in that country
• how you think education in that country will change in the future.

Write about 140 - 190 words.

An article: Someone you admire


The local newspaper in the community where you live is planning to publish articles about famous people
from different countries. This might be a film star, a politician or another person from the past or present.

You decide to write an article for the newspaper about a famous person that you admire.

In your article explain what the person did to become famous and say why you admire them. Include any
other information that you think would be interesting for the readers of the article.

Write about 140 - 190 words.

In Part 2 of the Writing paper, you choose a task from three possible ones. One of the tasks might be a review.
The task will give details about what you should review and what aspects ot it you should discuss. It will also
say where people will read your review, e.g. on a website or in a magazine or a newspaper.
You should make sure you cover all the points in the task, and structure your review in a suitable way. You
should talk about your personal experiences of a product or experience, give your own opinion of it clearly, and
make a recommendation for your reader. You should write 140 to 190 words.

TIPS:
Remember, to get a Good mark for your review:
• You must include all the points in the input
• You should state clearly whether you liked or didn’t like the product or experience
• You should include a recommendation
• Your ideas should be organised into clear paragraphs, which each focus on a clear topic.
• You should use descriptive language to make your review interesting
• You should use an informal, friendly style.
