Standing for Election to the National Policy Forum

About Me Why I am standing for election to the NPF
I strongly believe that Party members and affiliates must have greater access to and more meaningful engagement in our policy making process. As an active Labour Party campaigner I know the importance of winning and what this means for our communities. As we fight the Tory led coalition our policies must be shaped by members as well as those we represent, forming part of a comprehensive fight back, narrative to the country. offering a strong My passion for politics stems from 13 years working as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS and campaigning in my local community. I am an active Labour Party member; constituency Chair of Streatham CLP and ViceChair of the Lambeth Campaigns Forum. I believe in community engagement, reaching out beyond our Party and have worked to this end in Streatham and Lambeth. I am a Unison member and am working with my professional colleagues to help Save the NHS

Working on the frontline of the National Health Service I see firsthand the damage caused by this Government. This is what drives me, and this is why I am standing for election to the NPF.

Experience and taking Action

As an active member and an energetic campaigner I have held positions at branch, constituency and borough wide levels. I know the importance of winning and have seen the positive difference a Labour Party administration can have on our communities. It is with policies born out of work with our members and communities that we will underpin and frame a successful fight back. I am committed to working hard, ensuring that members voices are not only heard, but listened to. Those who know me recognise me as someone who is passionate about our Party, who leads with purpose and can motivate others. Above all I am someone who gets things done. I have a strong record not only of increasing member engagement as Chair of Streatham CLP, but also of reaching out to our community, involving local residents on policy making matters such as health and in tackling issues of community safety. Refounding Labour last year, members clearly called for greater involvement in the policy making process as well as returning to our roots as an outward looking Party. This is right and is the direction our Party must take. To this end I would not only work to give members greater say, I would also seek to hear and make heard the views of those our Party stands for. Finally, I would bring a fresh perspective to the NPF; working in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist and as a new mother I see firsthand and am angered by the damage already done by the Tory led coalition. It is this and knowledge that a Labour Government even in tough times would keep fairness and the need to protect the most vulnerable at its heart that drives me. This is why I am standing for election to the NPF and why I am asking for your support.
