Calclulation of Bearing Capacity Factors based on Plate load Test Results as Per IS 6403
Foundation width affects bearing capacity of cohesionless soil. The bearing capacity of a footing
placed at the surface of cohesionless soil, where the soil shear strength is considerably dependent on
internal friction, is proportional to the width of the foundation. A plate load test was conducted on
improved cohesionless soil with a square foundation of size 0.3m x 0.3m. As the width of foundation
of reinforced soil wall is more than width of plate due to which Bearing capacity factors need to be
calclulated from the plate load test results.
