BRAIN WAVE

STATES
DELTA (0.1 - 4 Hz)
Delta waves are slow low frequency waves at high amplitude. Delta is considered your unconscious mind . You
are not aware of what happens in this state. Delta level is associated with deep self healing and regeneration.
You go to sleep and your body goes to work healing you. It is a deep sleep state.

From the age of 0 - 2 years you are naturally always in Delta brainwave state
THETA (4 - 8 Hz)
Theta brainwave state is what we use in sound healing. This is the state between awake and asleep and is
related to your subconscious mind. Your body is sleep but your brain is still awake. This is a powerful state and
also used for hypnosis, mediation, prayer, REM state, deep relax and inner peace. It is an intuitive and creative,
state. This is the state we put people in while playing the bowls.

From the age of 2 - 6 years you are naturally always in Theta brainwave state.
ALPHA (9 - 13 Hz)
This is what I call “in the zone” state. It is a very focused state. Great for learning something new, mental
coordination, calmness, alertness. Alpha is 'the power of now, being here, in the present moment. You can
effortlessly engage in activities and also the environment.

From the age of 6 - 12 years you are naturally always in Alpha brainwave state
BETA (14 - 30 Hz)
Beta brainwave state dominates our normal waking state. It is great for problem solving, and functioning in
the day to day activities. Beta is normally split into three groups

LOW BETA MID BETA HIGH BETA


Known as “beta one” waves and associated Known as “beta two” waves and associated Known as “beta three” waves and
mostly with quiet, focused, introverted with increases in energy, anxiety, and associated with significant stress, anxiety,
concentration performance paranoia, high energy, and high arousal.
GAMMA (30 - 100 Hz)
Gamma is a high brain wave state. It is a cognitive state and is produced when the sympathetic nervous
system begins to release energy back up into the brain. This intense energy that you use to eat food, or run
from a predator or produce a baby travels up from the lower energy centres into the brain. This is called
Gamma brain wave. It has a high level of information processing, transcendental.
