Basic Gates

Aim: To verify the truth table of AND, OR, NOT logic gates.

Apparatus Required:

NOT IC 7404
AND IC 7408
OR IC 7432
Digital Trainer Kit
Patch chords
Theory:

Logic gates are the basic building blocks of any digital system. It is an electronic
circuit having one or more than one input and only one output. The relationship between the
input and the output is based on a certain logic.

The three logic gates NOT, AND, OR are called basic gates.
Procedure:-

1. Check to confirm the good physical and electrical condition of the given equipments
and Components.
2. Test the given IC with the help of IC Tester.
3. Insert the appropriate IC into the Trainer kit IC Base.
4. Make connections as shown in pin diagram.
5. While making the connections make sure that Trainer Kit is Switched OFF and
V/Ground patch cards (wires) are connected to the appropriate PIN of a given IC.
6. Switch ON the trainer Kit.
7. Give appropriate Logic input to the Circuit (IC) via switches provided in Trainer Kit
and observe the Output as per the respective truth table.
Result:

The truth table of logic gates NOT, AND, OR are verified.
