The K-12 guidelines serve as the foundation for the overall curriculum content in schools.
Teachers use these guidelines to develop their lesson plans, ensuring alignment between the
topics, competencies, and learning objectives. By creating well-structured lesson plans, teachers
can effectively guide the learning process and provide engaging activities that cater to the needs
of their students.
During the teaching and learning process, the supported curriculum plays a vital role. To
measure the effectiveness of the taught curriculum, assessments are conducted. These
assessments help determine the learned curriculum and whether the students have achieved the
desired learning outcomes. The success of the taught curriculum is directly linked to the students'
ability to pass the assessments.
The hidden curriculum, which refers to the informal and often unintentional aspects of learning,
can also influence the taught curriculum. Factors like the school's culture, classroom atmosphere,
and teacher-student interactions can impact the students' learning experiences and overall
outcomes.
1. How does the teacher whom you observed compare to the ideal characteristics or competencies of
global quality teachers?
As I observed, I could say that teacher Rozyl has the qualities of a global quality teacher because
she was able to achieve the learning outcomes in her lesson plan in a relaxing and exciting
discussion. Teacher Rozyl is an ESP teacher which is one of the wala kaayo ginapansin sa
students pero the way teacher rozyl discuss nakahatag ug buhay sa students ug namati gyud
sila. Teacher rozyl really knows how to discuss her topic and employed effective strategies. She
knows how to handle her students which makes her belong to a global quality teacher.
2. Was the lesson implemented as planned? Describe.
As I observed the lesson was implemented as planned, the learners were able to understand the
lesson and they actively participated in the activities. Also, the indicated school-based and home-based
activities in the weekly learning plan were given by teacher Rozyl.
3. Can you describe the disposition of the teacher after the lesson was taught? Happy and eager?
Satisfied and contented? Disappointed and exhausted?
Teacher Imelda was happy and eager in giving the class exciting activities. She even roamed around the
classroom and teased some students who were very focused on answering. She gave compliments and
praises when the learners performed well. Teacher Imelda was always smiling and I really felt that she
was enjoying that the children were active. I didn’t see any sign of disappointment and exhaustion in
teacher Imelda’s face and actions because she was totally satisfied with the learners’ responses to her
questions and activities.
4. Can you describe the majority of students’ reactions after the lesson was taught? Confuse?
Happy and eager? Contented? No reactions at all.
The learners have shown their skills in adding and subtracting decimals numbers through thousands
without and with regrouping through the activities and assessment. They were very happy and eager to
solve the different examples given by teacher Imelda. After they have solved the problems they were
satisfied with their performance and they wanted to try more so they asked teacher Imelda to provide
an assignment.
Based on your observations and tasks in Activity 2 how will you prepare your lesson plan? Make a
short paragraph on the topic.
Since I was only able to have a weekly learning plan and not an actual lesson plan, it’s ideal to stick to
the right process of making a lesson plan the way I learned it. I will use the SMART for the objectives to
ensure that all the 3 learning domains (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective) of the learners will be
developed. The weekly learning lesson plan would be a big help in formulating a lesson plan since the
topic and activities are already there. If I would be making a lesson plan given the topic “adds and
subtracts decimal numbers through thousands without and with regrouping”, I would make sure first
that my students understood the previous lesson as part of knowing their abilities. Aside from that, I
would look for relevant resources like YouTube videos, pdfs, and math websites where I can get
additional information and interesting activities aside from the textbook. One of the methods I am going
to employ is Student-centred learning. Also, I will use the game-based learning which I think can engage
learners more and be eager to solve the equations. It could be in a form of board work or group task.
