Verb Be : delete ‘if’ and Invert the subject and the auxiliary ‘were’. (‘if I were’ → ‘were I’)
Other verbs: replace ‘if’ with were and change the verb form to to + infinitive. (‘if I did’ → ‘were I to do’)
