TITLE: THE IMPACT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY ON GLOBAL

SUSTAINABILITY

1 Preview:
Renewable energy sources have gained significant attention in recent years due to their
potential to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable development. Today, we will see
the impact of renewable energy on global sustainability, examining its benefits, challenges, and
future prospects.
At the end of this presentation, you will grasp some knowledges on types of renewable
energy ,its benefits, challenges and solution and future prospects.

2 Introduction:
The world faces a critical juncture as we grapple with the consequences of fossil fuel
consumption. Climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation demand
urgent action. Renewable energy—harnessing power from natural resources such as sunlight,
wind, and water—offers a promising solution.

3 Content:
3.1 Types of Renewable Energy:

i. Solar Energy: Photovoltaic cells convert sunlight into electricity, powering homes and
businesses.

 Solar energy is almost 200 years old, discovered in 1839, by Alexandre Edmond
 Solar energy can be stored in salt (Known as molten-salt technology or molten-
salt energy storage (MSES), this process uses concentrated sunlight to melt salt at
131 degrees Celsius. The salt is kept in its liquid form in an insulated storage
tank. With proper insulation, the thermal energy can be usefully stored for up to a
week.)
ii. Wind Energy: Wind turbines capture kinetic energy from the wind, generating
electricity.(FF: Wind turbines have around 8,000 parts, can you imagine how much
intricated it is?)
iii. Hydropower: Dams and turbines utilize flowing water to produce energy.
iv. Geothermal Energy: Heat from the Earth’s core is tapped for electricity and heating.

3.2 Benefits of Renewable Energy:

i. Reduced Carbon Emissions: Unlike fossil fuels, renewables emit minimal greenhouse
gases.
ii. Energy Independence: Countries can diversify their energy sources, reducing reliance
on imports.
iii. Job Creation: The renewable energy sector creates employment opportunities.
iv. Improved Air and Water Quality: Cleaner energy reduces pollution-related health
risks.

3.3 Challenges and Solutions:

i. Intermittency: Solar and wind energy are intermittent. Battery storage and smart grids
address this challenge.
ii. Infrastructure Investment: Transitioning to renewables requires substantial
infrastructure development.
iii. Policy and Regulatory Frameworks: Governments must incentivize renewable
adoption through supportive policies.
iv. Public Perception: Educating the public about renewable benefits is crucial.

3.4 Future Prospects:

i. Advancements in Technology: Research continues to enhance efficiency and

affordability.
ii. Global Collaboration: International cooperation is essential for scaling up renewable
projects.
iii. Decentralization: Distributed energy systems empower local communities.

4 Conclusion:
To sum up, renewable energy holds the key to a sustainable future. By embracing these clean
alternatives, we can mitigate climate change, protect ecosystems, and ensure a healthier planet
for generations to come.

5 Review:
We have seen the significance of renewable energy, emphasizing its positive impact on global
sustainability. While challenges persist, the path forward lies in collective efforts, innovation,
and policy reforms.
