There has been much controversy on the topic of whether ‘Parents of students who engage in
posting incidents of school indiscipline should be held accountable for their children's action.’
The majority believes that they should not while the disquieted minority believes that this is a
practice that should be taken into consideration. Firstly parents may not be home as much due
to excessive working habits however they should take an active role in their child’s/wards life
monitoring their actions and behaviors especially on social media. Secondly, Parents may try
and attempt to control their children however some things may just not work out, although
Parents should imply morals and good values in their children as it is their responsibility as
parents. Lastly, certain parents did not have a steady and sure home growing up resulting in
their lacking of morals and behavior in contrast to this however parents are the ultimate role
model so a fault in their character or behavior may also be that of the child. In this essay all the
said points will be closely examined and discussed.
Firstly, parents may not be at home as much due to excessive working habits. Single parents
who have multiple children under their care need a steady job as well as an impressionable
income to keep the family living [Link] Minister of Social Welfare, said in a short
briefing in 2019 that it is common for adults with children to work longer shifts and more jobs as
the standard of living has increased and income in families may be low. Furthering the point that
it will be almost impossible for parents to be home as often. However, it is necessary that
parents should take an active role in their child’s/wards life monitoring their actions and
behaviors especially on social media. Isn't living comfortably with the basic necessities better
than staying at home without funds to monitor your child's behavior?
Secondly, parents may try and attempt to control their children however some things may just
not work out. Children are proven to have minds of their own, understanding things differently
compared to others and are described as free spirits. Although attempts may be made nothing
is certain to work out. A study done by the University of the West Indies shows that it is more
common for law breakers to come from good homes compared to homes with an unstable
condition, as 50% of the carribeans law breakers to be children who came from good homes. In
contrast to this parents should imply morals and good values in their children as it is their
responsibility as parents. Isn't it true that some things just can't be controlled?
Lastly, certain parents did not have a steady and sure home growing up resulting in their lacking
of morals and behavior. Take into consideration my cousin Asha. Asha’s mother was a daughter
to a drunkard father and deceased mom, this resulting in her mother being homeless and
having to figure things out and make a living, sometimes these methods were not always lawful.
Having Asha, her mother tried her best to raise Asha with good morals and values, having done
everything she could. Although it is believed that parents are the ultimate role model so a fault in
their character or behavior may also be that of the child. Isn't it true that you cant impart
knowledge to someone else having no knowledge about it yourself?

parents can only do so much?
