Chapter III

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter includes the study’s summary of findings which is based on the

previous chapter, and which formed the basis for the following conclusions, implications,

and recommendations.

SUMMARY

The main purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the

learning styles and students’ academic performance in mathematics of grade 10

students of the Holy Child Academy during the academic year 2022 – 2023. The locale

of the study was at Holy Child Academy in Poblacion, Ubay, Bohol. The study has one

hundred thirty (130) respondents with the percentage of 79% out of one hundred sixty-

five (165) respondents with the percentage of one hundred percent (100%).

This study made use of descriptive survey method to gather information and

other relevant facts and 5-Point Likert scale checklist questionnaire using standardized

questions from conquering math anxiety by Dr. Cynthia A. Arem. The data gathered

were tabulated in a table form and for presentation and interpretation based on the

purpose of the study. In determining the relationship between the variables, the ____

test was utilized.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the students in terms of:

1.1 Age, and

1.2 Sex?

2. What is the level of the students’ learning styles:

2.1 Visual learning style;

2.2 Auditory learning style; and

2.3 Kinesthetic learning style?

3. What is the level of academic performance in mathematics of grade 10 students

in Holy Child Academy?

4. Is there a significant relationship between the profile of the respondents and:

4.1 Level of students’ learning styles; and

4.2 Level of students’ academic performance in Mathematics?

5. Is there a significant degree of correlation between learning styles and academic

performance in Mathematics of the grade 10 students in Holy Child Academy?

6. What recommendation plan could be proposed based on the results of the

study?

Null Hypothesis

There is no significant degree of correlation between learning styles and academic

performance in Mathematics of the Grade 10 students in Holy Child Academy – a

Proposed Program for Improvement.

The study tested the null hypothesis that there is no significant degree of correlation between learning styles and academic performance in mathematics among Grade 10 students at Holy Child Academy .

The study explored significant relationships between the students' profiles—such as age and sex—and both their levels of learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) and their academic performance in mathematics .

The study proposed a recommendation plan based on its findings to address the relationship between learning styles and academic performance, ultimately to suggest improvements for educational practices at Holy Child Academy .

The study used a 5-Point Likert scale checklist questionnaire, which incorporated standardized questions from 'Conquering Math Anxiety' by Dr. Cynthia A. Arem, to assess the students' learning styles .

The study evaluated three learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, in relation to academic performance in mathematics .

The study concluded whether there was a significant correlation between learning styles and academic performance in mathematics, with a concern to either accept or reject the null hypothesis which stated that no significant correlation exists .

The researchers used a descriptive survey method and a 5-Point Likert scale checklist questionnaire with standardized questions from Dr. Cynthia A. Arem's 'Conquering Math Anxiety' to gather data. The study aimed to explore the relationship by examining variables such as age, sex, and learning styles with the students’ academic performance. They analyzed the data with a specific statistical test to identify correlations between these variables .

The primary objective of the study was to determine the relationship between students' learning styles and their academic performance in mathematics among Grade 10 students at Holy Child Academy during the 2022-2023 academic year .

The study collected demographic information on grade 10 students at Holy Child Academy based on age and sex .

Understanding the relationship between learning styles and academic performance can help educators tailor their teaching methods to better suit the individual needs of students, potentially enhancing learning efficiency and academic success .
