device that prints
character , symbols
and graphic on the
paper.

ribbon. It has similar need to touch the ink

Dot Matrix Printers

• The dot matrix printers are


also known as a pin printer
that was released by IBM in
1957. It strikes an ink ribbon
using print heads that place
thousands of little dots to
form images and text. The
Dot-Matrix printers uses 9 to
24 pin print heads depending
upon the quality print
required. 24 pin printers
produce more clarity that 9
pins dot-matrix printer. More
number of pins results in more
clarity.
Daisy-Wheel
The printer uses a metal wheel
containing each of the letters, numbers,
and other characters it supports. When
printing, the printer rotates the wheel to,
strikes each character into an ink ribbon
to create characters on paper.
Daisy wheel printers were popular in the
1970s and 1980s, but are no longer used
today. They have a low quality of print,
are very slow and loud, and were
replaced by laser printers.
Inkjet Printers:

• An inkjet printer prints


characters and graphics by
spraying tiny drops of liquid
ink on paper
• The inkjet printers are the
most common and widely
used printers, Introduced in
1980
• An inkjet printer is a
computer peripheral that
produces hard copies of a
text document or photo by
spraying drops of ink.
•Can be black and white or color
•Price is less than laser printers
•Print more slowly than laser
printers
. Laser Printers

• Laser printer uses toner


powder and technology
similar to that of a
photocopier the majority
of laser printers use
light, During print, the
laser will scan page line
by line. The most
accepted writing method
is black and white lasers,
which print content in
black text.
•Print one entire page at a time
•Can be black and white or color
•Print faster than inkjet printers
•Better quality output
