Kurta and Western-style shirts differ significantly in both function and style. The kurta, traditionally loose-fitting and collarless, often extends past the waist or knees, allowing for ease of movement and comfort in long wear, suitable for both casual and formal South Asian settings . In contrast, a Western-style shirt typically includes a collar and buttons down the front, often fitted for a tailored appearance, appropriate for formal and business contexts . While both garments serve as upper body clothing, the kurta's designs and materials such as cotton or silk with potential embroidery offer a distinctive cultural expression, compared to the more uniform and Western-centric aesthetic of shirts .

A tuxedo differs from a standard suit in several key ways, which significantly impact its suitability for formal occasions. Unlike standard suits, tuxedos typically feature satin lapels and satin-covered buttons, which add a distinct sheen and formal elegance . Tuxedos are conventionally black or blue and paired with a white shirt and bow tie, enhancing their formal appeal . The presence of these elements and the specific style requirements, such as the bow tie, make tuxedos more appropriate for black-tie events, while standard suits, lacking these embellishments, are more versatile for various formal but less ritzy settings .

Sweatshirts and hoodies cater to casual and athletic needs by offering comfort, warmth, and flexibility. Made of thick, absorbent materials like cotton jersey, sweatshirts are ideal for athletic activities as they wick moisture and provide warmth, with their loose fit allowing for unrestrictive movement . Hoodies, being an extension of sweatshirts, add functionality with a hood for additional head protection against elements such as wind or rain and often include pockets for carrying small items, crucial for both casual comfort and practical use during exercise . Their design facilitates easy layering and casual wear, meeting both functional needs and fashion preferences .

Its use of indigenous design elements signifies cultural pride and versatility, making it a popular choice for both traditional ceremonies and contemporary fashion settings worldwide, embodying a blend of cultural heritage and modern aesthetics .

A blazer is distinguished from a suit jacket by its casual construction and features. Blazers often have flap-less patch pockets and metal buttons, giving them a more relaxed look compared to suit jackets which are formal and constructed from matching fabric with the trousers . The incorporation of different fibers has thus expanded sweaters' functionality and their role in fashion .

The length and material choice optimize the garment's function of keeping the wearer warm in harsh conditions .
