Edison Early Childhood Center, also in Van Wert. Parents of children with a disability may contact this provider in order to apply for eligibility for services. These services include financial aid, transportation, IEPs, referrals to healthcare providers and other service providers, family support, and many others. When contacted, this provider can direct patrons to the services best for the child. 10
Services Provided:
Caters to children ages 3-5 who have
been diagnosed with some type of developmental disability, gifted children, and children who have no developmental issues. Thomas Edison functions as a preschool which also caters to children with special needs. Classes are offered Monday through Friday.

Services Provided: With locations in Van Wert and
Paulding, the Western Buckeye ESC provides many services for education, special and mainstream. A program for identification of gifted students is available, along with services for gifted students. No Child Left Alone is a service that provides mentors and tutors for students of all learning levels. Western Buckeye ESC also provides valuable resources for teachers, and can help schools and teachers apply for grant money. 9
Services Provided: ACBDD is affiliated closely with
Marimor School. They offer programs for early intervention (birth to two years), preschool (three to five years) and school age children (six to twenty one years) for those with disabilities and their families. ACBDD also provides help with determining children s eligibility for services, and also offers programs for adults. ACBDD also acts as an abuse hotline. 2

Services Provided: Provides daycare services to children
with special needs and their siblings at a low cost. They also offer financial assistance to families if needed. Meal plans are also offered. Children involved in the daycare program can have any type of developmental, behavioral or emotional disorders, ranging from ADHD to severe autism. They run a day camp called Camp Robin Rogers during the summer for children with special needs, as well as an adult summer weekend camp.

Provides many services, for adults
and children alike. They have daycare services, financial services for families, and they work closely with Child Protective Services in cases of abuse. This service is important for families who are having issues paying bills, medical or otherwise. ACJFS can help families apply for government assistance such as food stamps, welfare, and Medicaid. They do not cater to children with special needs only. 8

The ORSC offers access to programs Thursday for 6-8 weeks each summer. It is help at a campground near Spencerville on Conant Road. The children are transported by bus each day to and from their homes. They are provided a lunch once a week. While they are at the camp, the children attend music and art classes, and also go swimming and play on the playground. The environment is structured but fun activities are planned for each day. 4

These programs are not limited to children with special needs, but are offered for all children ages 14-21. The ORSC is better known for its family services, which are similar to the Allen County Job and Family Services. 7

Services Provided: The ETP caters to children over the
age of four who have some sort of developmental or physical disability. Volunteers help children to gain a sense of confidence by teaching them to ride horses. Not only do the students learn self-confidence, they also are provided with muscle stimulation simply from the movement of the horse walking beneath them. The program runs year round, and is fairly inexpensive. 6
Services Provided: The PMD takes place Monday and
Thursday nights, and Saturday mornings at the University of Toledo during each semester. The clinic is run by student volunteers, usually from the health care and education fields. The program accepts children ages 1-21, and is fairly inexpensive. The participants do many activities, including arts and crafts, athletic and swimming. Social interaction is an important part of the program. 5
