JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Manufacturing/Process Engineer
Department: Production
Reports to: Production Manager/Operation Manager
Responsibilities:
• Development of manufacturing routes for new components.
• Ability to use CadCam system
• Design fixtures
• Programming of CNC lathe and machining centre machine tools.
• Help with setting of new products and prove out new fixture
• Identification and purchasing of tooling required for operational purposes.
• Participation in tenders relating to New Product Introduction.
• Development of Machine Operators competence
• Look at process/program improvements
• Organise Regular maintenance of work equipment & machines to ensure good running order.
• Accurate time recording on both Route Sheets and Production Management System.
• Completing dimensional check on jobs prior to breakdown from machine.
• Informing QC Dept. / Management of any non-conformances.
• Inform management if machines not running to correct times
• Report any
• Ensure all measuring equipment is within calibration and reporting any damage to equipment
prior to use.
• Co-ordinating hand-over between day and night shift where necessary.
• Collaborate with the engineering staff to produce design sketches and drawings in accordance
with applicable standards
• Assist engineering staff in the design and development of components. Interface with
engineering staff effectively to ensure the form, fit and function of designs while also working
with fabrication managers to ensure cost effectiveness and manufacturability of designs.
• Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by others to
ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function.
• Daily housekeeping of work area.
• Any other task assigned by immediate superior.

Accountabilities:
• Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows.
• Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing and testing new procedures.
• Assembles reports to document process status and changes.
• Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.
• Communicates findings and proposals to upper management.
• Utilizes process simulation software to test and find the most appropriate production strategies.
• Provides thorough instructions for successful implementation of process changes.
• Conducts risk assessments.
• Assesses compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
• Contributes to departmental efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Adherence to company QHSE Policy.
Authorities:
• Signing off stage completions on Route Sheets
Qualification & Experience:
• Educated to diploma or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / manufacturing engineering or related
field.
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a precision engineering environment.
• Computer literate and familiar with CNC programming and software packages. Good knowledge
of the Fanuc operating system is essential. Knowledge of latest version of in-house CadCam
software would be preferred.
• Experience with mechanical design work and knowledge in manufacturing processes
• Knowledge and experience with utilization of CAD/3-D Modeling Software.
• Ability to understand complex mathematical relationships that underpin mechanical analysis.
• Capable of working under own initiative.
• Methodical approach to problem solving and manufacturing route development.
• Multi-tasking and ability to deal and interact with people from difference sections.
• Ability to co-ordinate people and promote team work in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to communicate clearly, making good logical and timely decisions.
