Domain Names
A Domain Name is a textual version of an IP Address, the number that points to a
particular website. For example, the number [Link] is the IP Address for
[Link]. Each domain name on the Internet corresponds to such numbers.
Without domain names, each and every website would have to be recalled by a number
like this, similar to the telephone system, but much more difficult to remember. For this
reason, domain names were introduced, and have made navigation on the net much
simpler.

Modifying the Whois (Contact Details) of

Domain Names
1. To Modify Contact Details for a Domain Name
2. Modifying CED Contact Details for a .ASIA domain name
1. To Modify the CED Contact associated with a .ASIA domain name
Typically, Domain Name Contacts are of the following types:
 Registrant Contact

13
 Administrative Contact
 Technical Contact
 Billing Contact
In the system, Contacts are independent of a domain name. All contact information that
you have used for registering any domain name, is maintained separately in a Contact
database. This allows you to re-use the contact information for any other domain name
registration without having to fill in all the values again. Think of this as linking Contacts
from your Contact database to the domain names you register. Whenever you change
any contact information in any Contact, it will automatically change that information in
every domain name which uses that contact information and reflect the same
immediately in the Whois lookup results of your domain name.
Whenever you change the contact information of a Registrant Contact that is associated
with a Domain Name the contact change has to be approved by both the losing and the
gaining registrant. The changes can also be authorized by a Designated Agent
What is Designated Agent (DA)
The ICANN Transfer Policy allows the sponsoring registrar to serve as a Designated
Agent (DA). The Designated Agent is specifically authorized by the Prior Registrant and
New Registrant to make any change on its behalf, through consent that must be
obtained from both individually at least once by the sponsoring registrar.
When modifying the name and/or company and/or email address details of the
registrant, the user will be provided two options:
1. Registrant Authorization not required -- Appoint Registrar as Designated Agent:
Registrar acts as Designated Agent and authorizes the change request. Under this
option, the registrant cannot opt out of the 60-day lock. If both the Prior Registrant and
New Registrant authorized the registrar to serve as DA, the change request will apply
immediately. If only one has authorized the registrar to serve as DA, the change will
only occur after the Prior Registrant or New Registrant, whichever is required, consents
to the requested change.
2. Registrant Authorization required -- Maintain Status Quo:
As it currently is handled now, the Prior Registrant and New Registrant receive email
messages asking to approve the change to the Registrant contact. Option to opt out of
60-day lock will be provided to the registrant.

Protection in the Whois of a Domain Name

 How can People Contact you if you Enable Privacy Protection for your Domain Name?

 Purchasing / Renewing Privacy Protection

 How can you Enable/Disable Privacy Protection of Multiple Domain Names?

Defining Privacy Protection

When you Register a domain name with [Link], the Whois of your domain
name lists your personal information (such as Name, Company Name, Address,
Telephone Number, Email Address) as Contact Details for that domain name. This
information becomes available to anyone who performs a Whois lookup of your domain
name.
Your personal information is, therefore, at risk from being manipulated by data miners,
who can then target you via junk email, prank telephone calls, postal messages, fax
messages, etc..

18
Using [Link]'s Privacy Protection service, you may immediately put a stop to
such abuse. When you enable this service for your domain name, we replace your
Contact Details in the Whois information with our generic contact details, thus, masking
your personal contact details.
NOTE
This feature is not available for the following TLDs (extensions):
 Due to restrictions imposed by the Registry Operator :
o .US
o .EU
o .CN
o .ASIA
o .IN
o .PRO
o .TEL

domain name for business, trade [including registration of domain names for monetization
purposes] or professional transactions) can choose to opt out of having their Contact Details

19
How can People Contact you if you Enable
Privacy Protection for your Domain Name?
Once you enable Privacy Protection for your domain name, the Contact Details in any
Whois Lookup query would display generic details.
NOTE
 Letters, couriers delivered at the Postal Address would not be accepted. This implies, that
you will not be contactable at the address displayed in your domain name Whois.
 Telephone callers would be advised to email you at the email address displayed in the Whois
of your domain name.
 Email sent to the email address listed in the Whois, will get a response specifying an
unbranded URL, which needs to be visited by this person. Upon visiting this URL, they would
be able to mention their query in a secure form, while specifying the type of Contact
(Registrant, Administrative, Technical, Billing) they wish to email. The contents of the
submitted form will then be emailed to the selected Contact's (Registrant, Administrative,
Technical or Billing) email address, as specified in your CONTROL PANEL.

Therefore, you are assured of still being contactable, even though your Contact Details
are not visible in the Whois of your domain name.

From a Reliable Third Party Whois Provider

When using any third party Whois website, you need to ensure that you understand the
following:
1. When verifying the Registration details of .COM/.NET domain names, no Third party
Whois site will be able to display accurate Whois details until up to 24 hours after
Registration. This is because other providers need to first query the concerned
Registry's Whois Servers to acquire the Whois Server URL of the Sponsoring Registrar
(before querying the Registrar's Whois Server for complete Whois details) and the
Registry's Whois Server itself updates its records in that much time.
2. When verifying the Registration details of any other domain name extension
(like .INFO, .ORG, .BIZ, .IN, .US), the Registry itself stores all the Registration details and
any Third party Whois directly queries the concerned Registry's Whois Server for such
details. Ideally, the Registry's Whois Server should publish/update this data in every 5 to
10 minutes.
3. Most Third party Whois sites cache results from the previous results of the queried
domain names and may misguide you.
NOTE
When you wish to have a Third opinion of a particular domain name's Registration details,
we advise you to instead use [Link]

Defining Privacy Protection
When you Register a domain name with [Link], the Whois of your domain
name lists your personal information (such as Name, Company Name, Address,
Telephone Number, Email Address) as Contact Details for that domain name. This
information becomes available to anyone who performs a Whois lookup of your domain
name.
Your personal information is, therefore, at risk from being manipulated by data miners,
who can then target you via junk email, prank telephone calls, postal messages, fax
messages, etc..
Using [Link]'s Privacy Protection service, you may immediately put a stop to
such abuse. When you enable this service for your domain name, we replace your
Contact Details in the Whois information with our generic contact details, thus, masking
your personal contact details.

GDPR
 What is GDPR?

 Managing GDPR Protection settings

What is GDPR
1. GDPR and domain names
2. When is GDPR Protection enabled?
3. Key differences between Privacy Protection and GDPR Protection

GDPR, short for the General Data Protection Regulation, is a regulation in European
Union law designed to give EU citizens and residents greater control over their personal
data, particularly regarding how this data is controlled and processed by companies.
This regulation demands careful consideration of the ways that companies handle

36
personal information of European citizens and residents. The GDPR is effective May 25,
2018.
GDPR aims to protect EU subjects from companies using their data irresponsibly and
puts them in charge of what information is shared, where and how it's shared. It also
makes data protection expectations identical throughout EU member states, which
helps companies because they must now comply with a standard set of rules when
doing business with EU subjects.
To learn more about GDPR, please visit [Link]

GDPR and domain names

To abide by GDPR principles, [Link] provides a GDPR Protection setting for
all domain names where any of the registrant, admin, technical or billing contact bears
the personal information of a user from the European Economic Area (EEA). This setting
ensures that the information of such users will be replaced with placeholder text in the
public WHOIS records.
The GDPR Protection setting is applied automatically for all eligible domain names, but
can be disabled by the domain name holder by providing explicit authorization.

When is GDPR Protection enabled?

The GDPR Protection setting is enabled for domain names when
1. a domain name is registered or transferred in to [Link] if at least one
contact is from the EEA
2. the contact information of a registered domain name is modified to use at least one
contact from the EEA

Key differences between Privacy Protection and GDPR Protection

The GDPR Protection setting above is completely independent of the Privacy Protection
service offered by [Link]. The main differences are listed below.

Confirming if a Domain Name can be

Transferred
There are various cases where a domain name may not be transferable to
another Registrar. This could happen in the following circumstances:
1. Domain name is less than 60 days old: If the domain name you are trying to Transfer
was registered less than 60 days ago, the request will get rejected by the Registry itself.
NOTE
List of TLDs (Domain Name Extensions) for which 60-Day Transfer Lock is applicable
upon Registration

2. Domain name has been Transferred less than 60 days ago: A domain name can not be
transferred to another Registrar within 60 days of a previous Transfer.
Example:
A domain name can not be transferred from Registrar B to Registrar C, if it has been
transferred to Registrar B from Registrar A within the last 60 days.
Exception
3. Theft Protection / Lock / Suspension has been applied on your domain name: If Theft
Protection / Lock / Suspension has been applied on your domain name at the Current
Registrar, then a Transfer for that domain name to another Registrar will not be
allowed. You will first have to disable Theft Protection / Lock / Suspension for the
domain name and then proceed with a Transfer.
Disabling Theft Protection / Lock / Suspension

41
4. Privacy Protection has been enabled on your domain name: If you have enabled Privacy
Protection for your domain name, then you need to disable it, before trying to transfer
it.
Disabling Privacy Protection
5. Domain name is in the Redemption Grace Period or in the Pending Delete status: If the
domain name is in either of these statuses, it can not be transferred.
Domain Name Extension Specific Conditions
NOTE
 A .CN domain name can not be transferred if there are less than 15 days to its Expiry.
Moreover, the 2nd condition (mentioned above) will not be applicable for a .CN domain
name.
 Only .CO, .[Link], .[Link], .[Link] domain names can be transferred.
 If you are trying to Transfer a .EU domain name, none of the conditions mentioned above
will be applicable. This is because the .EU Registry does not support any Theft Protection /
Lock / Suspension / Privacy Protection feature. There is also no 60 day Registration/Transfer
Lock.

Moreover, you may also Transfer a .EU domain name which is in the Redemption Grace
Period.
 Third Level .ME domain names can not be transferred since Registrar Me-Net 1 is
the only Registrar through which Third Level .ME domain names can be registered/managed.
However, no such restriction applies to Second Level .ME domain names.
 The following restrictions apply for a .RU (Anchor: dotru)
domain name:
o Upon modifying the Contact details of a .RU domain name, you can not Transfer your
domain name, until the below mentioned duration:
 .RU, .[Link], .[Link] : 30 days
 .[Link] : 60 days
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Modifying the Whois / Contact Details of a .RU Domain Name

o 2nd Level .RU domain names have a 30-Day Transfer Lock placed on them after they are
Transferred from another Registrar.

3rd Level .RU domain names can not be Transferred among Registrars.
o If your .RU domain name has Expired, then you may not Transfer your domain name until it
has been renewed.
 A .UK domain name can be renewed upto 90 days after its Expiry, post which the domain
name would be automatically deleted by the .UK Registry. There is no restriction on
transferring a .UK domain name during this period. However, you need to ensure that there

42
is sufficient time prior to Deletion, so that the domain name can be renewed with the new
Registrar once the Transfer process gets completed successfully. This is because Transfer of
a .UK domain name does not include one year Renewal.

Apart from this, none of conditions listed above apply to the Transfer of a .UK domain name.
This is because the .UK Registry does not support any Theft Protection / Lock / Suspension /
Privacy Protection / 60 day Registration or Transfer Lock and there is no concept of a
Redemption Grace Period in case of a .UK domain name.

Explaining Domain (Transfer) Secret or

Authorization (Auth) Code and How to Obtain it
from your Current Registrar?
A Domain (Transfer) Secret or Authorization (Auth) Code is a code assigned by the
Registrar at the time the domain name was Registered. This Domain (Transfer) Secret
acts like a password for a domain name, ensuring that only the owner of the domain can
Transfer their domain name.
To Transfer any domain name, of any of the following TLDs (extensions), you would
require to first obtain the Domain (Transfer) Secret or Auth. Code from your Current
Registrar:
NOTE

43
 Authorization Code for a .EU domain name will have the format XXXX-AAAA-BBBB-CCCC
where XXXX is a plain-text identifier of the current Registrar, and AAAA, BBBB and CCCC are
blocks of 4 random characters (letters and digits) separated by dashes.

The Authorization Code is generated upon request from the Registrar and is valid for a
period of 40 days. Each time the code is requested, a new one will be generated on the spot,
replacing the previous one and remaining valid for 40 days.

Requests submitted during the first day (24 hours from the moment of first request) of the
validity period of the code will not result in a new code being generated. The request will
return the same code with the same remaining validity period.

Example:

The first request for an Authorization Code is made on 15 Dec 2012 11.00 AM GMT. An
Authorization Code will be generated with a validity of 40 days. All further requests for the
code within the next 24 hours (16 Dec 2012 11.00 AM GMT) will return the same code with
the same remaining validity period. Requests after the initial 24 hours will return a fresh
Authorization Code.

Authorization Code associated with a .EU domain name will become invalid immediately
after use.

you have not received/responded to the email from the Current Registrar.

Following are the steps to cancel the Transfer:

1. Login to your Control Panel. 1
2. Search for the domain name for which you placed the Transfer request and proceed to
the Order Details view. 2
3. In the Order Details view, click the Current Actions button under the Actions drop-down
menu.
4. In this list, click the action whose Status displays Transfer waiting for Losing Registrar
Approval and then click Cancel.

 Domain Name Transfer Completed but Domain Name is Still Inactive

Understanding the Status of a Domain Name

Transfer
NOTE
As per ICANN's new domain transfer guidelines, effective 25th May 2018, all domain
transfers will not require Form of Approval (FoA). The Transfer Authorization process will not
require the Registrant Contact's approval via e-mail.

Upon successfully executing a Transfer for a domain name, your domain name's
Transfer action will initiate. You may easily track the status of your domain name's
Transfer by following these steps:
1. Login to your Control Panel. 1
2. Search for the domain name for which a Transfer request has been placed and proceed
to the Order Information view. 2
3. Note the Action Requested and the Status of the Action. There may only be the following
statuses of a domain name, that has not yet been Transferred to [Link]:
o Trying to fetch Admin Contact Email Address (Anchor: fetch)
: In order to ensure that an
authorized person is placing this Transfer request, we send an email to
the Administrative Contact of the domain name for approving the Transfer. Our system
automatically fetches the Admin Contact Email Address by contacting the Whois
server of the Current Registrar. However, sometimes the Current Registrar's Whois
server does not respond to our request.
[Link] would attempt to contact the Current Registrar's Whois server for the
Administrative Contact details every hour for upto 24, and then even try to manually
fetch the same. In almost all cases, we will be able to send an email to the
Administrative Contact within 48 hours.

50
o Transfer waiting for Admin Contact Approval (Anchor: waiting)
: Upon initiating a Transfer, our
system sends an email to the Admin Contact of the domain name as appearing in the
Whois server of the Current Registrar. You can verify the email address we fetched from
their Whois server at the time you initiated the Transfer, within the Order
Information view itself.
In case the Admin Contact does not receive the authorization email after placing a
Transfer, you may resend it by clicking the Resend Transfer Authorization Email link.
NOTE
There might be instances where the Admin Contact email address was changed after the
Transfer request was placed. In such a case, click the RESEND TRANSFER AUTHORIZATION
EMAIL link. This would cause our system to:
 invalidate the previous request,
 query the Current Registrar's Whois server again for the Administrative Contact email
address, and
 mail him/her a fresh authorization request.
Each time the RESEND TRANSFER AUTHORIZATION EMAIL link is clicked, the system would
repeat the above mentioned process.

Sometimes, it may be possible that the Admin Contact has still not received an email
sent by our system, due to any of several problems including network blockages, spam
filters, etc.. To circumvent such a situation, you may click the Send Transfer Approval Via
Fax link (from within the Customer Control Panel) and follow the instruction therein, to
send us your consent to Transfer your domain name to [Link].
NOTE
The system waits for 5 days for the Administrative Contact to approve the Transfer. If the
Administrative Contact remains silent (neither approves or disapproves the Transfer), it is
assumed that the Administrative Contact does not wish to Transfer his domain name and we
delete this Order in our system.

o Action waiting for domain to be unlocked (Anchor: unlocked)

: After receiving approval from the
Admin Contact, our system checks whether any lock exists on the domain name. If the
domain name is locked, the Transfer request displays Action waiting for domain to be
unlocked status. This may happen due to either:
 a 60-day Transfer lock post Registration or previous Transfer, or
 a lock placed at the Current Registrar.
In case of a 60-day Transfer lock, you will have to cancel the Transfer and wait for the
lock period to elapse. In the latter case, you need to have the domain name unlocked
with the Current Registrar.

51
The system automatically checks every hour if the domain name has been unlocked,
and processes the Transfer (once the domain name is unlocked).
While the domain name displays this status, you may click either the:
 Retry button: if you have unlocked your domain name and immediately want the
Transfer to proceed, or
 Cancel Order link: if you choose to fail this Transfer.
NOTE
The Transfer order would automatically fail if the domain name is not unlocked within 7 days
(from the moment its corresponding Invoice is settled).

o Transfer waiting for Losing Registrar Approval (Anchor: approval)

: You may see this status when
the Administrative Contact has approved the Transfer request sent
by [Link] and now the Transfer is awaiting the Current Registrar's approval.
Ideally, your domain name should Transfer in 5 days, from the time this status is
displayed.

Lost One Year when Transferring a Domain

Name from One Registrar to Another
In any domain name Transfer process, there are three entities involved:
 Domain Name Owner (Registrant)
 Gaining (New) Registrar
 Losing (Current) Registrar
Typically, a domain name is transferred sometime before its Expiry, in order to renew it
with the Gaining Registrar. This results in one year getting added to the domain name's
Expiry Date. The charges for this one year are collected by the Gaining Registrar. There
is, however, a case when it seems as if this one year is not added during the Transfer
process.
NOTE
 Basically, if a domain name expires, it is not deleted immediately. The Registrar of the
domain name must explicitly delete the name within 45 days or else it is deemed to have
been renewed. This period of 45 days is called the Auto Renew Period.

52
If during these 45 days, the Registrant renews the domain name with the Losing Registrar
and then transfers the name to the Gaining Registrar, then the domain name will lose the
year that was added with the Losing Registrar while renewing the domain name.

Example:

Suppose a domain name expires on 1st Jan 2001 with Registrar A.

o On 3rd Jan 2001, (after the domain has expired) you renew the domain with Registrar A for a
year. This will make the Expiry Date as 1st Jan 2002.
o Now on 10th Jan 2001, if you Transfer this domain name to Registrar B, this is what will
happen:
 The Transfer will add one year to the domain name's Registration term (Expiry Date will be
1st Jan 2003).
 If there has been any Renewals in the 45 day Auto Renew Period, those years will be
removed (Expiry Date will be reset to 1st Jan 2002).
 While a year is indeed added upon Transfer of the domain name, the Expiry Date does not
appear to reflect it. This happens since the year added upon Renewal with the Losing
Registrar is credited back to the Losing Registrar by the Registry.

Precautions recommended when transferring your domain name, if you have renewed it
with the Current Registrar post Expiry:
 Do not Transfer the domain name to another Registrar, during the 45 day Auto Renew
Period immediately after the Expiry Date of the domain name.
 However, if you have already done the above mistake, then the only recourse is to
obtain a refund from the Losing Registrar for the Renewal that you have paid them.
There is little scope of getting it considering, most Registrars may not understand this
issue or may not have a Refund Policy.

Domain Name Transfer Completed but Domain

Name is Still Inactive
There are instances where a domain name is successfully transferred
to [Link], but it still continues to bear the Inactive Status in the Control
Panel.
This happens because of the following reason:
 When a domain name Transfer completes, the Registry makes the necessary
modifications to the domain name and adds 1 year to its Registration term.

53
 The Registry notifies us about successful domain name transfers by means of a daily
report.
 On receipt of the report, the system sets all successfully transferred domain
names Active in the database.
 If for some reason, there is a delay in the delivery of the report, the domain
name cannot automatically be set Active in the system. As such, it continues to
remain Inactive.
This problem would normally be automatically rectified within 24-48 hours.
NOTE
However, if the problem still persists for more than 48 hours, please report this issue to our
Support Team at HTTP://[Link].

Locating and Modifying the Domain (Transfer)

Secret/Authorization Code for a Domain Name
Most TLDs (Domain Name Extensions) have a Domain (Transfer) Secret / Authorization
Code associated with them. This serves as a password and is required to authenticate
domain name Transfers.
Exceptions
[Link] also allows you to modify your Domain (Transfer) Secret for each
domain name. You can, thus, have a Domain (Transfer) Secret of your choice for each
domain name.

To View/Modify a Domain (Transfer) Secret / Authorization Code

(except for .DE domain names)
1. Login to your Control Panel, search for the domain name whose Domain Secret you wish
to view/modify and proceed to the Order Information view. 1
2. Click the Domain Secret link.
Expired Domain Name Related Information

54
3. Here, the current Domain (Transfer) Secret will be displayed. In order to change it,
provide a new Domain (Transfer) Secret in the textbox and click the Update Domain
Secret button to set it.
Domain Name Extension Specific and Other General Conditions
NOTE
o Domain Secret character limit for different Domain Name Extensions
o While modifying the Domain Secret of .COM, .NET, .NAME and .JOBS domain names, the
following rules apply:
 The length of the Domain Secret can be from 8 to 32 characters only
 The Domain Secret must contain 1 alphabet, 1 number as well as 1 special character.
o The Domain Secret should ideally consist of alphanumeric as well as special characters like
the ones mentioned below:
 A -Z and a - z
 0-9
 !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^_`{|}~
However, certain TLDs do not support usage of special characters in the Domain Secret:
 .ME: No special character. Only alphanumeric characters permitted.
 .UK: No special character. Only alphanumeric characters permitted.
 .WS: < > & '
o In case of a .COM, .NET, .WS domain names the DOMAIN SECRET field may be blank. In order
to set it, provide a new Domain (Transfer) Secret in the textbox and click the UPDATE
DOMAIN SECRET button.
o In order to set a new Domain (Transfer) Secret / Authorization Code for a .EU domain name,
you need to click the FETCH LATEST TOKEN button.
NOTE
 Authorization Code for a .EU domain name will have the format XXXX-AAAA-BBBB-CCCC
where XXXX is a plain-text identifier of the current Registrar, and AAAA, BBBB and CCCC are
blocks of 4 random characters (letters and digits) separated by dashes.
 The Authorization Code is generated upon request from the Registrar and is valid for a
period of 40 days. Each time the code is requested, a new one will be generated on the spot,
replacing the previous one and remaining valid for 40 days.
 Requests submitted during the first day (24 hours from the moment of first request) of the
validity period of the code will not result in a new code being generated. The request will
return the same code with the same remaining validity period.

Example:

55
The first request for an Authorization Code is made on 15 Dec 2012 11.00 AM GMT. An
Authorization Code will be generated with a validity of 40 days. All further requests for the
code within the next 24 hours (16 Dec 2012 11.00 AM GMT) will return the same code with
the same remaining validity period. Requests after the initial 24 hours will return a fresh
Authorization Code.
 Authorization Code associated with a .EU domain name will become invalid immediately
after use.

o In case of a .SHABAKA domain name, the Domain (Transfer) Secret must be between 8 - 32
printable ASCII characters with at least a punctuation, letter and a digit.
o Once a domain name having an associated Domain (Transfer) Secret is Transferred
to [Link] from another Registrar, a new Domain (Transfer) Secret is set for
such a domain name. This process is implemented from a security perspective.

it. Applying a Lock on any domain name, has the following effects:
 When you place a Lock on a domain name, all actions available for domain names may
still be performed by only you or [Link].
Types of Actions possible from the Order Information view:
o Modifying Contact Details,
o Modifying Name Servers,
o Registering and managing Child Name Servers,
o Enabling / disabling Theft Protection,

61
o Suspending / Unsuspending a domain name,

Registering and Managing Child Name Servers

1. Registering and Managing Child Name Servers
1. Add a Child Name Server (Anchor: add)
2. Modify a Child Name Server (Anchor: modify)
3. Delete a Child Name Server (Anchor: delete)
Child Name Servers are Name Servers which are registered with the Registry under your
domain name. You have to register Name servers with the Registry, before you can use

62
them as Name Servers for registering other domain names. Child Name Servers can
be registered only by the owner of the domain name under which they are registered.
Example:
A Child Name Server [Link] can only be registered by the Owner of [Link].

Registering and Managing Child Name Servers

1. Login to your Control Panel, search for the domain name and proceed to the Order
Information view. 1
About Lock / Suspension
2. Click the Child Name Servers link.

Here, you may:

Add a Child Name Server (Anchor: add)

Enter the Host Name of the Child Name Server you wish to add in the Host Name box,
mention its IP Address (IPv4 or IPv6) and click the Save button.
Examples:
o For [Link], you may use the Host
Name as [Link] and an IPv4 IP Address as [Link].
o [Link] could have the Host Name as [Link] and an
IPv6 IP Address as 2001:0db8:0:0:0:0:1428:57ab.
NOTE

Registering a Child Name Server as mentioned above is just the first step. The Child Name
Server is required to be registered at the Registry to only serve as a non-authoritative
Record should your Child Name Server not be resolvable in some extreme condition.
This Name Server would start working only after you have added either an Address (A)
Record for IPv4 or AAAA Record for IPv6 or Canonical (CNAME) Record for this Name Server

63
within the Zone for the domain name (of this Child Name Server) in your own DNS Server,
thus binding the NS to the IP Address.
Examples:
o If you are running your own DNS Servers, then you would need to add a Zone for the domain
name [Link] and create an A Record like:

[Link]. 38400 IN A [Link]

Similarly, you may add an AAAA Record as

[Link]. 38400 IN AAAA 2001:0db8:0:0:0:0:1428:57ab

o If you wish to simply point your Name Servers to other Name Servers, then you may do so
by either:
1. you may either add a CNAME Record to your Service Provider's Name Server, after enabling
Managed DNS service through them:

[Link]. 38400 IN CNAME [Link]

or
2. you may add an A or AAAA Record to your Service Provider's Name Server IP Address
(depending upon whether your Service Provider has an IPv4 or IPv6), after enabling
Managed DNS service through them:

[Link]. 38400 IN A [Link]

or

[Link]. 38400 IN AAAA 2001:0db8:0:0:0:0:1428:57ab

its Name Server (to some other Name Server).

You will need to modify the Name Servers of all domain names using the Child Name Server
as their authoritative Name Server and try attempt the Child Name Server deletion.

However, if [Link] was using [Link] as its Name Server, then you
would not face any issue while deleting your Child Name Server: [Link].

Common questions

Powered by AI

Even with privacy protection, domain owners remain contactable. The WHOIS email, when contacted, automatically responds with an unbranded URL where the sender can specify their query securely, selecting the type of contact (e.g., Registrant, Administrative). This form submission is emailed to the respective contact’s address provided in the control panel .

When receiving an abuse complaint such as spam or WHOIS inaccuracy for a privacy-protected domain, privacy protection can be disabled and locked from being re-enabled by selecting 'Do not allow your sub-resellers/customer to change this.' A reason must be provided, visible to the customer/sub-reseller, which aligns transparency of the action taken .

To purchase bulk privacy protection, users must log into their Control Panel, navigate to Manage Orders > Bulk Tools > Bulk Privacy Protection > Buy. They can purchase privacy protection by either mentioning relevant Order IDs or domain names, entering up to 1,000 Domain Names or Order IDs. Finally, they must click Submit to proceed with the purchase .

Privacy protection can be unavailable for certain TLDs due to restrictions from the registry operator or other policy restrictions. For example, it is not available for .ASIA, .BLOG, .CA, .CN, .EU, and others due to registry operator restrictions, and for .ORG.CO, .MIL.CO, .GOV.CO, .EDU.CO due to other unspecified restrictions .

The status of a domain transfer can be monitored in the ORDER DETAILS view on the DomainDokan platform. The system displays the order status until the transfer completes or fails. If needed, users can cancel the transfer from this interface, providing continuous visibility into the process .

To cancel a domain transfer (except for .EU domains), you must access the Order Details view in your control panel, select the action showing 'Transfer waiting for Losing Registrar Approval,' and click Cancel. If necessary, funds are refunded to your account. Cancellation of .EU domains requires using the option in the email from the registry .

To enable or disable privacy protection on DomainDokan, domain owners need to log into their Control Panel, search for the domain and access the Order Information view. Then, they should click the Privacy Protection link, where they can enable or disable the Privacy Protection using a toggle switch and update the status by clicking the Update Status button .

Once a domain name is transferred to DomainDokan, the platform automatically enables Theft Protection. Additionally, the system sets a new Domain (Transfer) Secret for the domain for enhanced security .

To transfer a domain name with DomainDokan, you must first confirm the domain is transferable and obtain a Domain (Transfer) Secret or Authorization Code. Login to the Control Panel, navigate to Manage Orders > Transfer Domain, and enter the domain name and any required authorization code. After payment, the transfer status will be shown in the Order Details view, and if approved by the registrant contact, the transfer completes within five days .

Resellers must log into their Reseller Control Panel, select Products > Domain Registration > Transfer, and enter the domain name for transfer. They must include the customer's email (or add a new customer), manage contacts and name servers, complete payment, and submit the Domain (Transfer) Secret Key within 30 days of placing the order. After submission and registrant approval, the transfer is completed .
