1. Arithmetic Mean

1. A student scores the following marks in 5 tests: 78, 85, 92, 88, and 95. Calculate the arithmetic mean
of the student's test scores.

2. A shop sells 7 types of fruits with the following prices (in dollars): 1.50, 2.00, 1.75, 2.25, 1.80, 2.10,
and 1.95. Calculate the mean price of the fruits.

3. Suppose a survey is conducted to know the satisfaction level of the customer for their food. Following
data for food is obtained. Calculate mean

(Weight: 25%, Grade: 85). Calculate the student’s weighted mean final grade.

7. A company evaluates the performance of its employees using a weighted mean of three factors:
productivity, punctuality, and teamwork. The factors have the following weights and scores for an
employee. Productivity (Weight: 50%, Score: 85). Punctuality (Weight: 30%, Score: 90), Teamwork
(Weight: 20%, Score: 80). Calculate the employee’s weighted mean performance score.

8. An investor is analyzing the growth of his investment portfolio over three years. The portfolio grew by
the following rates each year: Year 1: 1.05 (5% increase), Year 2: 1.10 (10% increase), Year 3: 1.15
(15% increase). Calculate the geometric mean annual growth rate of the portfolio over these three years.

9. A biologist is studying the growth of a bacterial culture. The population of the bacteria increases by the
following factors each day over three days: Day 1: 1.5 times; Day 2: 2.0 times; Day 3: 1.8 times.
Calculate the geometric mean growth factor of the bacterial culture over the three days.

10. Suppose the returns earned on a stock by an investor for successive four years were: 50%, 15%, -26%,
and 66%. Calculate the geometric mean.

11. The population of a country according to the 2010 census was 160.74 million, which increase to 202.88
million in the 2017 census. Estimate the average annual growth rate of the population from 2007 to
2017.

12. The following table shows the percent increase in salary for 50 employees during five-year time.
Calculate the average increase in salary.
