Class: *cheering again
Coach: Okay team listen up, this is a rare opportunity for our school, and I want you all to try
your best. This is why we should talk about more strategies, to give us a higher chance to win.
Team: But how do we use a strategy?
Coach: well… which is why I got you guys a physicist!
Team: what? But a physicist isn't even related to table tennis!
Coach: I know, I know.. But, physics is related to table tennis, no? The physicist has got some
strategies and tactics for us to use. Now settle down, because the physicist is already here.
Physicist goes in frame
CACHO: hey everyone. My name’s Cachoo, i work as a physicist.
riona: everyone meet sir. Cachoo! Hes a part of our team from now on, so be kind to him.
Team: good morning sir!!!!!
CACHO: good morning! Im honored to be invited into this team, so i’ll try my best to try and help
this school’s talented athletes. So basically, what we’ll be relying on as our strategy is the
“projectile motion”.
Team: wow!! What is the projectile motion?
CACHO: Projectile motion is a form of motion experienced by an object or particle that is projected
in a gravitational field, such as from Earth's surface, and moves along a curved path under the action
of gravity only.
CACHO: Projectile motion plays a crucial role in table tennis strategy and tactics, influencing
how players approach various aspects of the game, including shot selection, placement,
and timing.
Projectile motion is also a fundamental concept in table tennis that shapes players'
strategies and tactics, influencing how they approach shot selection, placement, timing, spin
manipulation, and defensive play. By understanding and mastering the principles of
projectile motion, players can elevate their game and outmaneuver opponents with skillful
and strategic play.

……
Throughout the few remaining weeks, the team trained themselves for the upcoming
competition, using the strategy of the so called “projectile motion,”
1 week before the competition….
Coach: Remember, Its important to be aware about the rules of table tennis. But moving on
from the rules, let’s talk about the safety measures in table tennis.
Team: Safety measures? But maam, table tennis isnt even that dangerous.
Coach: thats right, its not as dangerous as other sports… but things can still happen the least
you expect it. Thats why… you can already guess what I did so you students are aware of the
safety measures.
Team: uhm… you invited a medical practitioner?
Coach: thats right!
medical practitioner goes into frame.
Team: wow… as expected of the coach..
Coach: meet mr. Gaudencio, and ms. Jesha! Theyll have a short orientation about the safety
measures of table tennis, and how to prevent intentional injuries during a game.
JESHA: hello everyone! Im (name), and this is my partner, (name.) today, we’re here to do a
short orientation about safety measures of table tennis, and we’ll be including how to prevent
intentional injuries during a game.
GAUDENCIO: Now, let’s begin with “how to prevent injuries in Ping pong, or table tennis”. If you
are very careful, it is easy to avoid injuries. But here we have a list of ways to avoid them.
First of all, choose a lighter racket. Ensure that it is appropriate for your skill level and playing
style.
2nd, Wear stabilizing [Link] protect, stabilize, and support your wrist in a neutral
position, which helps limit movement
3rd, Warm up! Always start your practice or match with a thorough warm-up. It is necessary to
prepare your muscles and joints for activity.
4th, Learn about the energy linking cycle and how it can prevent injury in the sport of ping pong.
5th, Listen to Your Body. Stop playing when an ache has progressed into a pain.
Take the time to rest and recover, and consider seeking medical attention if the pain persists.
JESHA: That’s all the few ways to avoid injuries in table tennis! Now, lets move on. This time,
we’ll be talking about intentional injuries, and how to prevent them during a game of tennis.
Now, the question is, what is “intentional injuries”? Intentional injuries are ones that are
purposely inflicted and are often associated with violence. Yes, that can occur during a game of
table tennis. Players can encounter an opponent who plays dirty. That’s why, we are here to tell
some tips on how to avoid them.
Number one is, Make sure to maintain your focus. Stay focused on the game and be aware of
your surroundings. Distraction or loss of concentration can lead to careless shots that may
cause injury to you or your opponent.
Next, Stay calm: Control your emotions, especially in competitive situations. Avoid letting
frustration or anger take over you and dictate your actions, as this can lead to reckless play and
potential injuries. You wouldnt want hurting someone because of your emotions.
GAUDENCIO: 3rd one is, Control your shots. Practice control and precision in your shots rather
than relying solely on power. Avoid reckless swings or aggressive actions that could
accidentally harm your opponent.
4th, Communicate with your opponent: If you feel uncomfortable with your opponent's behavior
or if they are playing too aggressively, politely communicate your concerns with them or with a
referee if available. You don’t know whether they might be thinking of hurting you intentionally
so they can win the game.
5th, Follow proper technique: Learn and use proper table tennis techniques taught by coaches
or experienced [Link] not only improves your game, but also minimizes the risk of hurting
yourself and others.
And for the last one, Maintain sportsmanship: Encourage a culture of fair play and
sportsmanship. Remind players to respect their opponents and avoid any deliberate actions that
could harm them. Encourage good sportsmanship and discourage any behavior that could lead
to intentional harm.
Jesha: And thats all! I really hope our little orientation helped you students. Remember to play
fairly in your upcoming competition!
Team: thank you, Maam Jesha and Sir. Gaudencio!
The day of the competition.
(cheering crowd woohoo)
Coach: before the game starts, i need to make sure that all of you know what the basic rules of
table tennis are, okay?
Coach: number 1, A game is started when one player (server) makes a service before the
receiver makes the return. The Server should… what?
(someone raises hand and answer)
Extra: start with the ball resting freely on an open palm.
Coach: right! And what more?
Extra: project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least
16cm
Coach: also correct. Another one is that, the server should strike the ball so that it touches first
his/her court and then, after passing over the net assembly. touches directly the receiver's court.
In doubles, the ball must touch successively the right half court of server and receiver.
Remember, Once the ball has been served, both players are to make returns until a point is
scored. In doubles, each player on the same team must take turns to make the return.
After 2 points have been scored, the receiving player/pair shall become the serving player/pair
and so on until the end of the game.
A set is when one of the players or pairs first score 11 points. In the event that both
players/pairs score 10 points, a set is be won by the first player/pair to gain a 2- point lead. A full
match is won when a player or pair wins the best of any odd number of sets (3, 5, 7).
A point is scored when..?
(team answers)
1. an opponent fails to make a correct service,
2. an opponent fails to make a return,
3. the ball touches any part of an opponent's body,
4. an opponent strikes the ball twice in succession,
5. if an opponent, or anything an opponent wears, touches the playing surface or net during
play.
6. if a doubles opponent strikes the ball out of the sequence established by the first server and
first receiver.
Coach: Okay, enough with rules. Im pretty sure all of you are smart enough to already know
them, am I right? Now, get ready for the competition folks. Let’s do a little more training. Let’s
move!
