TX FAULT IN FREQUENCY
CASE-1: IF THERE IS NO TX ON VCCS
Change on AF control and verify TX, if found S/A then follow as:
1. Check audio on MDF 0.9mm ECR by asking Radar Tech. to give test call from play-back position.
2. If you do not get TX audio, ask them to check their system e.g. frequency card etc. Because
radar is bound to provide TX audio in ECR, on the contrary ECR is bound to provide PTT voltages
at MDF 0.9mm radar side.
3. If you get audio in 0.9mm ECR MDF, then check audio pair b/w 0.9mm and toggle switch panel
possible cause dry soldering in toggle switch points.
CASE-2: IF THERE IS NO TX ON BOTH VCCS & AF CONTROL
1. First confirm audio TX from Radar on 0.9mm MDF (ECR) and change over the transmitter.
2. If the problem is resolved, then OK. But if the fault remain same, then re-solder all points on
toggle switch and trace the pair which goes to patch panel of the transmitter and re-punch the
pair with crone tool and check audio. Hopefully the problem will be resolved.
NOTE: You cannot change the antenna because same antenna is used by multicoupler in
transmitting other frequencies too.
CASE-3: IF THERE IS NO KEYING ON VCCS
1. Ask twr to key from alternate vccs position, if ok,then check hand keyer of head set/paddler
of faulty position.
2. If same on both position ,then check keying voltage(24VDC) in MDF 0.9mm ECR. If ok ,then
verify with radar tech. at MDF 0.9mm [Link] voltage is available at that point, then radar is
responsible beyond this point.
CASE-4: IF NO KEYING ON VCCS/AF CONTROL
1. Check key voltage between MDF 0.9mm ecr ,toggle switch and TXR

RX FAULT IN FREQUENCY
CASE-1: NO RECEPTION ON VCCS
1. Check reception on Receiver if OK then check audio on MDF 0.9mm, if OK, ask Radar to check
audio in MDF 0.9mm (Radar), if OK ask them to monitor on play-back position. If OK, ask them
to check VCCS system we are bound to provide reception audio at MDF 0.9mm Radar, beyond it
Radar Technical is responsible.
2. At Tower, check audio on headset/speaker.
3. Also check squelch voltages at MDF 0.9mm (ECR) if N/A, then ask Radar Tech. to provide squelch
voltages which is essential for receiver unmuting.
4. Receiver circuit checking: Plug out the receiver audio pair in MDF 0.9mm (ECR) and attach
multimeter with resistance mode(on local side) you will find a open circuit key the call (No -
voice) with hand-set, and multimeter will give a short circuit showing receiver circuit Ok.
5. If controller insists to change on AF-Control then follow the SOP.
CASE (2): NO RECEPTION ON VCCS & AF CONTROL UNIT
1. Check audio on receiver and then check receiver audio pair to toggle switch.
Re-punch the audio pair with crone tool and resold all the terminals of toggle switch, possible fault
will be removed.
CASE -4: NO RECEPTION ON VCC /AF-CONTROL DUE TO SQELCH
CIRCUIT.
1: Check voltage in MDF [Link] (ECR) at radar side it should be 4.5 VDC , if not , then ask radar
side to check their side because we are not getting voltage from radar vccs equipment.
2: Multimeter on continuity position, place probes on MDF0.9mm (ecr) rxr side, it should be a
open circuit. Then key from hand rt set , on keying ,it would become short circuit, giving result
that rxr is ok.
