DEMOLITION PROGRAMME

FOR

PROPOSED DESIGN AND BUILD FOR UPGRADING WORK AT


TANJUNG MALIM NORTHBOUND AT SECTION C2, NORTH

1. SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of works for this project includes:

• Demolition and removal of building elements such as Male and Female Toilets, Refuse
Chamber and Workers Rest Area, Water Tank, and 2 nos of existing Septic Tanks.
• Demolition and removal of existing pavement and landscape.
• Excavation and removal of materials
• Disconnect and cap all utilities/services at relevant property boundaries
• Waste sorting and removal

2. INVESTIGATION

i. Description of Structures
• Demolition of the Male & Female toilet consist of timber structures (column, roof beam & truss)
and load bearing wall (clay bricks)
• For Sewage Treatment Plant consist of RC structures for both Septic Tank.
• Water Tank consist of steel structures
• Refuse Chamber and Workers Rest Area consist of RC structure.

ii. Height of Structures and Distance to Boundaries


• The Male and Female toilet is single story unit. Setback for Female Toilet is approximately 7m from
the boundary adjacent to Shell and for Male Toilet approximately 2.4m from Harold Bread.
• For existing septic tank, 1 no of the septic tank located at the middle between Male and Female
Toilet in which will not cause any hindrance to adjacent building. While another one, located just
beside existing retaining wall approximately 2.7m.
• Water tank located behind the Male toilet with approximate 6m height.
• Refuse Chamber and Workers Rest Area located just beside the retaining wall approximately
around 1’.

iii. Description of Site

All neighboring buildings are to remain operational throughout the demolition process. Demolition
works must not in any way hinder the operation of these surrounding buildings.

iv. Adjoining Structures

Righthand side of the proposed site is Shell Petrol Station, in which divided by retaining wall. On the
lefthand side is Harold Bread café.

3. DEMOLITION WORKS

i. Sequence of works

Demolition work planned to be completed within 8 weeks. Work to start with the demolition of
Female Toilet, followed/concurrently with Male Toilet. Then, continue with demolition of 2 nos of
septic tank. Lastly, the demolition of steel structure of water tank. Demolition and removal of block
pavements and landscape can be done concurrently with the demolition of septic tank.

ii. Tools and equipment to be used


• Mobile Crane
• Excavator
• Backhoe
• Hacker
• Crusher Machine
• Roro Bin
iii. DETAILS OF DEMOLITION WORKS

a) FEMALE TOILET

Uninstall and dismantle sanitaryware, electrical and disconnect supplies

The building will be removed by hand and appropriate hand tools where required, no heavy machines
will be placed in the areas.

Dismantle roof sheet and trusses, column

Timber roof trusses, timber column and roof sheet will be removed by hand and appropriate hand
tools. Demolished items will be stockpile inside roro bin at designated area.

Hacking and demolish RC structure

Hacking and demolish RC structure (Load bearing wall, RC Floor, etc.) by using machinery (Type of
machineries according to situation which type may suit). Demolished items to be stockpile at
designated area.

Demolish external structure (if any)

Demolish external structure by using machinery (Type of machineries according to situation which
type may suit). Demolished items to be stockpile at designated area.

b) MALE TOILET

type may suit). Demolished items to be stockpile at designated area.
c) SEPTIC TANKS

Site Clearance

Pavement block and landscape item to be removed by hand and appropriate hand tools where
required. Demolish items to be stockpile at designated area before cart away from site.

Demolish adjacent structure/building (Refuse Chamber & Workers Rest Area)

Demolish external structure by hand and using machinery (Breaker). Demolished items to be stockpile
at designated area.

Excavation to demolish underground structure

Demolition work by using excavator. Demolished items to be stockpile at designated area.

Backfill and level

Backfill and level the area by using excavated material or imported red earth (To be reviewed and
advice by consultant).

d) WATER TANK

Demolition work for existing steel structure can be done once clear access for mobile crane can be
achieved.

Disconnect supply to water tank

Water supply to water tank to be disconnect.

Dismantle existing FRP water tank and steel structure

Demolition work to be done by using mobile crane. FRP water tank and steel structure to be dismantle
using top-down method.

Excavation to demolish underground structure

Demolition work by using excavator. Demolished items to be stockpile at designated area.
