STEP 1 FIND A PUBLISHER
find a publisher in your area who publishes in small quantities
depending on how many photobooks you want, what kind of finish you are
looking for there are tons of different options for publishers
before ordering, check which finished you want, i got 170 g/m2 silk mc paper
after getting paper samples from the publisher.
make sure to get a test sample of your finished photobook beforehand to
check all finishes are the way you want them
these are the specifications for the photobook i created which is included in
the template:

in the Netherlands, i used the publisher Bookadew and calculated the
dimensions of my template. They were also very helpful and able to answer
any questions easily through email or chat.

STEP 2
CREATE YOUR
PHOTOBOOK
select the images you want in your photobook & use the templates to create
your cover & fill in your photobook
the templates are for photobooks with short and occasional text
size 220x290mm
104 pages
COVER
the cover is inspired the Assouline books but can be adapted in colour and style,
this cover is the size required for the internal sizing.
the template has 17mm edges to fit with the publishing requirements.
size 496.8x330mm with 17mm edges
This link will take you to the template on Canva. Here you will be able to edit the
template and fill it in with your information. You can also change the colours
and design to your preference!

make sure to check if your selected publisher requires the same margins as
these templates
INNER PHOTOBOOK
the inner pages of the book are a mix of full images, pages with text and pages
with multiple images or different layouts
if you have a preference of one layout over the other, you can always duplicate
the page and delete the other
make sure you end up with 104 pages in total as the cover template is sized for
this.
the margins are 7mm horizontally and 4mm vertically this is the margin you
need to leave blank in order to avoid white margins on the edge of the pages
when creating your version of this template make sure to think of which pages
you want next to each other. the first and last pages are standalone so keep that
in mind!

STEP 3 ORDER & ENJOY
before finalising your order i recommend ordering a
sample first, this allows you to double check if the book
ends up looking the way you want and adapt if there are
things you want to change
once you have perfected it you can order as many as you
want, for you, your friends and family! I ended up
spending around €300 for 7 photobooks with +1 sample
(total of 8 photobooks)
i was able to give the books to family & grandparents
making everyone very happy!
