1. The real number x satisfies the equation:

1 √
x+ = 7
x
Find the value of S if x also satisfy the equation:
2
x15 − 23x11 + x7 + S =
3

2. Samavia has given her sister Alisa a cylinder with a diameter of 30 cm and a height of 55 cm.
She did some sort of handicraft with a ribbon with a width of 3 cm. The ribbon wrapped
the cylinder in 2 revolutions. Find the area of the ribbon.

3. The two digits in Kamal’s age are the same as the digits in Jamal’s age but in reverse order.
In 5 years Kamal will be twice as old as Jamal will be then. What is the difference in their
current ages? [5 marks]

4. You are given a m × m chess board. Initially, all the squares are white. You can colour
one square pink in each move. By colouring each square you receive one point. It is called
GAM EOV ER!! if any three squares you coloured become the vertexes of a right triangle.
By playing with the best strategy you have scored 55 points. What is the value of m?

5. Circles A, B, and C touch each other externally, in other words, they are tangent to each
other. All three of the circles are inside circle D and they are internally tangent with it.
Circle A has a radius of 1 meter and it passes through the centre of D. If circles B and C
have the same radius r and r = m/n, what is the value of m+n?

[5 marks]

6. Prologue: In the journey to the Land Of Mordor - where the shadows lie. Little Hobbits
have to take the route through the Mines of Moria(Khazad-dûm). In the gate of Moria,
there’s a riddle (Problem) that the fellowship have to solve in order to enter the mine. See
if you can help Mr Frodo on his journey to Mount Doom.

The Riddle: Let X be a set of all possible co-ordinates (m, n), where the values of
m and n can be −1, 0, 1. If a total of N lines can be created by joining the points of set X.
Speak the number N , and help your friend enter. [5 marks]

7. On a horizontal plane, there lie three spheres of radius 1 tangent to each other. On the
top of them, there lies Another sphere of radius 2, tangent to all three of them. Find the
perpendicular distance D from the Horizontal plane to the highest point of the sphere of
radius 2.

8. Gollum takes 4 random integer numbers (a, b, c, d) from the set S = {0, 1, 2, . . . , 2023}. Such
that a, b, c, d ∈ S. The numbers don’t have to be distinct. Let P = ac − bd. What is the
probability of P being an odd number? [5 marks]

9. Three Circles of radius 4 are externally tangent of each other. Let us denote the
circles by w1 , w2 , w3 . P1 , P2 , P3 are three points of the respective circles w1 , w2 , w3 .
P1 P2 = P2 P3 = P3 P1 and P1 P2 is tangent on P1 point in circle and w1 . P2 P3 and P3 P1 are
similarly tangent on circle w2 , w3 .
√ √
If the area of P1 P2 P3 = a+ b, where a, b are positive real numbers. Then what
is the value of a + b?

[5 marks]

10. There are an infinite number of bins numbered with integer i marked on them, for i =
1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... You throw three balls towards the bin and the probability of a ball going in
i − th bin is 2−i . What is the probability of the balls being in distinct bins with evenly
spaced numbers? To explain, 1, 10, 19 and 2, 5, 8 are two possible scenarios for evenly spaced
bins. [5 marks]
