II. BACKGROUND/SITUATION ANALYSIS
Tanjay City Boulevard has been a well-known tourist spot in our city, but as time goes
by, its surrounding marine areas have been facing environmental degradation due to improper
trash disposal that led to contamination of coastal seas, pollution, overfishing, reducing water
quality and habitat destruction. Moreover, unsustainable harvesting methods have reduced
fish supplies and disrupted the marine food chain. This has negatively impacted the
livelihoods of fishermen, threatened marine wildlife, and affected the overall well-being of
the local community leaving them more vulnerable to environmental changes and natural
calamities.
Through this project, alongside with our organization, Waves of Change, we can
restore or mitigate the effects of marine pollution and foster a community where both people
and bodies of water can coexist harmoniously.
