My family and I visited my grandparents during the school holidays last year. They live in a small
fishing village in Kuala Terengganu. We departed from Damansara early in the morning. Throughout
the journey, my sister and I were in a restless mood. We were eager to meet our grandparents so we
asked Father if he could drive a little faster. He just took one look at our faces and started laughing.
When we finally arrived at my grandparent’s house, my sister and I rushed out of the car and
called out to them. They were in the kitchen, preparing food for us. My grandmother was busy frying
keropok lekor and curry puffs while my grandfather was breaking open coconuts to serve us fresh
coconut water. The smell of the keropok lekor made our mouths water instantly! We then enjoyed
the snacks together while catching up on each other’s news.
Later that evening, Grandfather took my sister and I to the beach nearby. We could see many
fishing boats docked t the pier. There were also some fishermen who were mending their nets.
Grandfather introduced us to them and they were really happy to meet us. Soon, the sun began to
sink below the horizon. As we admired the beautiful sight, we let the gentle breeze cool our faces.
