4.2 Engage LISTEN AND IMAGINE!
(5 minutes) Have you been to running race? Yes (athletes from the class will probably say yes)
Together, close your eyes and imagine yourself right before a track race. You are
suited up in a uniform. You have already warmed up, so your muscles are pumping and
ready for action. You look around you and see three people on each side. As you close
your eyes, you visualize yourself running down the track, making each step as long as
possible, drawing long, clear, deep breaths into your lungs to power your body. Soon
you hear them give the command,
“Runners, on your marks!” You carefully place your toe at the front of your lane and
crouch down for the race. You can hear your heart pounding with anticipation, your
muscles twitching, and your hands are nervous, Then, the next command, “Get Set...”
Waiting, waiting, waiting. Finally, you hear it (slams a book on the table), the race
begins with the crack of the cap gun.
The students open their eyes and watch the video of Team Philippines men’s 4x400
relay finals which is held in Cambodia on 2023 (SEA GAMES).

2. Why do you think our body is doing this? (Brainstorm ideas that might include
flight or fight responses, using adrenaline to get a physical job done) Because
of hormones.
3. Which organ system is responsible for these hormones? Endocrine System
4.2 Explore “FLIP THE BOTTLE, RIDDLE CHALLENGE”
(15 minutes) PROCEDURE:
1. The class will be divided into two teams/groups. The teacher will give 5 riddles
which means that each group will choose 5 representatives and will take turns

4.3 Explain ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
(15 minutes)
- Composed of different glands which secrete hormones that regulate

- Hormones – are organic substances released by the glands of the endocrine
system directly into the bloodstream.
- The major endocrine glands in the body are pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid,
thymus, adrenal, pancreas, ovaries and testes.
Teacher: “Let’s discover the locations and functions of these glands by watching this
short video. After watching the video, we will have a short activity”
