Noel Rabbit is made from Drops Air 50g/150m (164 yds)/65% Alpaca/28%
Polyamide/7% Wool. You will need approx. 15 g.
The size of my little bunny is 1,9”/5 cm
You can knit Noel Rabbit with any yarn, any small balls will do. It will just be a
different size than mine. But that's okay for a Christmas toy, isn't it?
What you’ll need:
• One pair of 2,5 mm straight knitting needles
• 2,5 mm Double Pointed Needles
• Tapestry needle
• Toy stuffing

Abbreviations:
DPNs: Double pointed needles
K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together
Kfb: (Increase) Knit into the front and back of stitch
KLL: Knit Left Loop. Increase 1 stitch by knitting into the stitch that is 2 below
the one you have just knitted... Insert tip of left needle into the stitch from behind
and bring the loop onto the left needle. Insert the tip of the right needle into the
back loop and knit, in doing so making an extra stitch.
SSK (SLIP, SLIP, KNIT) – Slip a stitch (as if to knit it) to the right-hand needle,
slip a second stitch in the same way, slip both stitches together back to the left-
hand needle and knit together through the back loops.
The pattern instructions
Using straight knitting needles to cast on 4 stitches, leaving a tail of 6 inches for
seaming with later.
Row 1: Purl (wrong side)
Row 2: (Kfb) x 4 times (8 sts)
Row 3: Purl
Row 4: (K1, KLL) x 7 times, K1 (15 sts)
Row 5: Purl
Row 6: (K2, KLL) x 7 times, K1 (22 sts)
Row 7: Purl
Row 8: (K3, KLL) x 7 times, K1 (29 sts)
Row 9 - 21: Beginning with a Purl row work 13 rows in stocking stitch
Row 22: (K3, K2tog) x 5 times, K2, K2tog (23 sts)
Row 23: Purl
Row 24: (K2, K2tog) x 5 times, K1, K2tog (17 sts)
Row 25: Purl
Row 26: K1, (K2tog) x 8 times (9 sts)
Row 27: Purl

Cut the work from the ball leaving a tail of around 8 inches and use the tapestry
needle to thread this tail through the remaining 9 sts (Fig.1). Continue using this
thread to close approx. an 2 inches of the head seam using mattress stitch (Fig. 2).
Leave a hole at the bottom to make it easy to fill the head with stuffing. Stuff the
head with stuffing, adding small pieces of it. When you have stuffed the head, sew
up the seam all the rest, but do not sew up the small hole at the bottom, we will
need it (Fig. 3). Now let's knit the ears.

Ears (make two the same)
Cast on 12 stitches use DPNs, leaving a tail of 8 inches, to sew the ears to the head
with this thread. Divide sts over 2 DPNs, held parallel to each other, and using a
third DPN work in the round (Fig. 4). Place a stitch marker on the first stitch to
denote the beginning of the round.
Rnd 1 - 2: Knit
Rnd 3: (K3, KLL) x 4 times (16 sts)
Rnd 4 - 15: Knit

Rnd 16: K1, SSK, K2, K2tog, K1, SSK, K2,
K2tog, K2 (12 sts)
Rnd 17: Knit
Thread this through the remaining 12 stitches and
pull up tightly. Over-sew once to keep the seam
from opening out. Put the end of the thread
inside the ear.
To sew the rabbit ears symmetrically, I use a
large needle or pins, as you prefer. Thread the end from one ear through the
tapestry needle and attach the ear to the head with a horizontal invisible stitch.
Embroider the eyes with a French knot or sew on small buttons. Stitch the nose.
Hide all the threads inside the head and sew up the hole at the bottom of the head.
Make a loop between the ears, so you can hang the bunny on the tree or wherever.
