Changing Perspective: Homeworks
Homework is a prevalent teaching style in education. To explain it clearly, homework is
something that has to be done by students at home. Teachers are willing to give homeworks to
the students due to different reasons. Indeed, some teachers may give assignments because of the
fact that they do not have enough time to do the activities in the class while others give
homeworks to measure a student's achievement level. Nowadays, the necessity FOR of
homeworks is a predominant argument around the globe. While the proponents of the idea that
homeworks should not be banned think that it is just a waste of time, the opponents of this idea
believe that it is an effective way of teaching. However, not banning the homeworks seems to be
a better choice.
First of all, homeworks should not be banned due to its contributions to learning. The
lessons can be easily forgotten by students since students are not fully interested in all topics;
therefore, students should revise that lesson to understand and to learn completely. It is an
undeniable fact that the majority of students do not want to revise the lecture voluntarily. Those
kinds of students have to BE pushED to revise. In this situation, homeworks comes into play.
Apart from that, students may not understand the topic in the class, but since they have to do the
homeworks to be successful in their academic life, they have to study that topic before they start
doing THEIR HOMEWORKit. By this way, students both understand the lesson better and
remember the topic thanks to revising. For the reasons mentioned above, homeworks should not
be banned.
In addition, homeworks are plays an important role in a student's sense of responsibility.
Being responsible and fulfilling one’s responsibilities is an essential part of a person’s self-
development. From primary school to higher education, students are responsible for doing
assignments. In most educational systems, by doing homework, students are GRADED noted,
and these GRADES notes can affect their overall GPR average which is important for students to
attend the FOLLOWING next year's classes; that is why, it is important for students to do their
homeworks. As it mentioned, homeworks can be given in primary school, students are able to
improve their sense of responsibility at an early age. If students do not do their homeworks, they
can be PENALIZED THROUGH punished by giving lower marks, and this may have a huge
effect in TEACHING THEM TO FULFILL doing their responsibilities on time. For these
reasons, it is better to not ban homeworks.
On the other side of the coin, some people argue that homeworks should be banned due to
the fact that students CAN do not spare time for themselves AS THEY CLAIM by saying
completing homework takes a lot of THEIR FREE time. In other words, students should have
SOME a spare time for doing the activities which they like, but with homeworks TAKING
MOST OF THEIR TIME AFTER SCHOOL OR AT THE WEEKEND, they are not capable of
doing THESE ACTIVITIESit. While it may be true that doing a lot of homework in a day may
be tiring for them, but teachers do not give laden homeworks everyday. Moreover, in the last
decade, technology has developed so much that people can reach information rapidly. In the past,
students had to look in a ENCYCLOPEDIA enciclopedia to find information about any topic,
but with today’s feasibility, students are able to REACH find information quickly; therefore,
doing homework is not likely to be an obstacle to doing what they want. To explain it in a
different and more comprehensive way, doing homework is no longer an obstacle for students to
spare time for themselves.
All things considered, homeworks is an important part of education FOR A LONG TIME
IN EDUCATION SYSTEMS from past years. Every student HAS had done at least one
homework in their education life. Despite this, there has been an argument over whether
homeworks should be done or not. When everything is taken into account, it can be seen by most
that homeworks has great influence on students such as improving their sense of responsibilities
and making them revise the lesson; therefore, banning the homeworks probably is not a good
choice.
