1. What is the circulatory system? Mention the main components ofthe
human circulatory system.
Ans. The circulatory system is responsible for transporting nutrients,
oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water to and from different parts of the
body. Its main components are the heart, blood vessels, and blood.
2. List the components of blood and their functions.
Ans. Blood is made of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and
plasma.
The functions of them are as follows.
• Red blood cells help to carry oxygen.
• White blood cells help to fight infections.
• Platelets help in blood clotting during injury.
• Plasma is the liquid portion that dissolves and transports
nutrients, hormones and waste products.
3. Draw a labelled structure of the heart and explain its parts.

Ans: The human heart is a four-chambered muscular organ. The upperchambers
are called as the auricles which receive the blood while the lower chambers are
called as the ventricles which pump the blood.
