Semi- Detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 8- TLE (Commercial Cooking)
Time: 2:00 pm-3:00pm
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of 60 minutes class discussion, atleast 85% of the Grade 8- Garnet are
expected to:
1. identify kitchen symbols and layout;
2. value the importance of being knowledgeable of the basic kitchen layout; and
3. draw your own ideal kitchen layout.

a. Topic: Interpret Kitchen Layout

c. Instructional Materials: Manila Paper, Pictures, Tarpapel
d. Methodology: 4A’s (Activity, Analysis, Abstraction, Application)

Before we proceed discussing our topic, let us have a game.

equipment you see in the kitchen.

Lesson Proper
Our topic for today is about Kitchen Layout.
Here are the learning outcomes that you will be able to meet at the end of the
lesson;

Here are some terminologies that you will encounter to our discussion:
Definition of Terms
Work Station – simply means a specific work area where a particular kind of food is
produced or a specific job is done.
Work Triangle – an imaginary line drawn from each of the three primary work
stations in the kitchen, and avoid traffic flow problems.
A. Activity
Now, let’s start with an activity.
Here are the instructions:
Form into four groups.
Each group will be given pictures and names of different kitchen layouts.
Each group will identify it by pasting the name to the correct picture.
After you identify it, as you can see there are numbers indicate in the picture.
You are going to write what part of the kitchen is that. (Clean-up Station,
Food Storage Station or Cooking Station)
After that, choose 1 representative to present your answer.
You will be graded according to this criteria.

D. Application
Let’s have an activity to apply the knowledge you gain from our discussion.
Here are the instructions:
Form three groups.
Each group will be given a task.
GROUP 1
You will be given pictures and names of different kitchen layouts.
You will identify it by pasting the name of the correct picture.
After you identify it, as you can see there are numbers indicated in the
picture. So, you are going to write what part of kitchen station is that.
(CLEAN-UP STATION, FOOD STORAGE STATION or COOKING

After that, choose one representative to present your work.

Think and Draw your ideal kitchen layout.
After that, you will present and provide an explanation about your layout.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Direction: Observe and identify what is the current kitchen layout at your home.
Identify the type of layout shown and draw a blueprint or sketch of what changes
you want in your kitchen’s layout. Complete your sketch by placing the necessary
symbols to show the different appliances.
Guidelines:
e. Visit the kitchen at your home and identify the type of layout shown.
f. Take a photo of your kitchen layout and print it.
g. In a bond paper draw a blueprint or sketch of what changes you want in your
kitchen’s layout
h. In a ½ sheet of Cartolina paste the Printed photo of your kitchen labelled as
“BEFORE” and on the other side paste the blueprint or sketch you create
labelled as “AFTER”.
i. Read and analyse the rubric that will be used in evaluating your output before
starting anything.
j. Submit your output tomorrow.
