II TERM

To achieve the total grade of 5% in this first part of your research proposal you must:
1. Upload Cover page, Introduction and Statement of Purpose to the platform by 11:59pm
on Thursday July 11th , 2024.
2. Cover page must include the following information and nothing more:
o A page header:
▪ Page number flush right,
o The title of the paper,
o The name of each author of the paper,
o The institutional affiliation for each author,
o The course name and number:
▪ Use the format used by the institution:
• Example: LIN – 4200 Sociolinguistics
o The instructor’s name and title:
▪ Use the instructor’s preferred form:
• Example: Tevyn Padilla Ulloa, M.A.
o The assignment’s due date:
▪ Use the most common format:
• Example: July 11, 2024
3. Introduction must include the following information and nothing more:
o Outline of your problem statement and research question(s)
o Definition of appropriate context for reviewing the literature
o Review of the literature
o Explanation of the organization
o Scope of the review – what is included and what isn’t included.
o Some important questions to shape your introduction include:
▪ Who has an interest in the topic (e.g. scientists, practitioners,
policymakers, particular members of society)?
▪ How much is already known about the problem and why is it important?
▪ What is missing from current knowledge and why
4. Statement of purpose must include the following information and nothing more:
o Explanation of your reasoning for pursuing this topic as a researched argument.
o Identified anticipated outcomes of your argument essay, emphasizing significance
in advancing knowledge of the topic.
▪ What new insights will your research contribute?
▪ Why is this research worth doing?

0.5 points will be taken from every aspect not included in your work and/or from any extra
information which doesn’t follow the format and structure requested by your instructor.
