Tutorial 5: Getting Started with Yoga
Introduction
Yoga is a practice that combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to
promote overall well-being. In this tutorial, we will cover some basic yoga poses for
beginners.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Find a Comfortable Space
o Choose a quiet, comfortable space where you can practice without
distractions.
2. Mountain Pose (Tadasana)
o Stand tall with your feet together and arms at your sides. Take a deep breath in
and raise your arms overhead, palms facing each other. Exhale and bring your
arms back down.
3. Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
o Start on your hands and knees. Lift your hips up and back, straightening your
legs and forming an inverted V shape. Press your hands firmly into the mat
and relax your head between your arms.
4. Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I)
o Step one foot forward into a lunge position. Turn your back foot out slightly
and lift your arms overhead. Keep your front knee bent and back leg straight.
5. Child’s Pose (Balasana)
o Sit back on your heels with your knees together. Fold forward, bringing your
forehead to the mat and your arms extended in front of you.
6. Breathing Exercise
o Sit comfortably with your back straight. Close your eyes and take slow, deep
breaths. Focus on the sensation of the breath entering and leaving your body.
