The tables provide(s) information about the number of
visitors to the Ashdown Museum before and after its
restoration, while the pie charts present the results of a
survey conducted among visitors during the same two
periods.
Overall, the number of visitors and the proportion of very
satisfied visitors have significantly increased after the
museum's refurbishment.
Initially, 74,000 visitors came to the museum when it was
in its original state. After the refurbishment, this number
increased by 18,000, reaching 92,000. According to the
pie chart data, before the restoration, over two-thirds of
visitors were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied, accounting
for 40% and 30% respectively. In contrast, only one-
fourth of visitors were satisfied or very satisfied, making
up around 10% and 15% respectively, while 5% of
visitors did not participate in the survey.
After the museum's refurbishment, there was an increase
in the proportion of visitors who were satisfied and very
satisfied, accounting for 35% and 40% respectively. The
number of dissatisfied visitors decreased to 15%, and only
5% were very dissatisfied, which was equal to the
percentage of visitors who did not participate in the
survey.

It has been argued that there is insufficient recyclable
household waste, and that the responsibility should lie
entirely with governments to implement mandatory
recycling programs. While I do believe that governments
should enforce recycling laws for households, I think that
education about recycling is equally important.
To begin with, it is widely acknowledged that the most
effective way to tackle environmental issues is through
legislation. Recycling laws would prompt individuals to
think twice before discarding items as trash. Those who
violate these laws should face significant penalties. If
people were aware of the consequences of not recycling,
everyone would make an effort to recycle properly. For
example, Singapore has enacted laws requiring the
recycling of all household waste, with severe penalties for
non-compliance. As a result, these laws have
unexpectedly led to a 60% annual waste reduction. There
is no doubt that stricter enforcement of recycling laws
would result in increased recycling participation.
The counterargument is that enforcing laws may cause
people to resent them and become even more stubborn in
their waste disposal habits. However, in reality, most
people are unlikely to take action unless they are
compelled to do so, and it is only when people understand
that the value of their actions can result to detrimental
effects to our planet. Therefore, governments need to
implement laws and explain its worth if they want
household waste recycling to become widespread.
In conclusion, to encourage home recycling, we need a
combination of legal mandates and educational
campaigns. While laws ensure compliance, education
fosters a willing and informed citizenry. If governments
effectively employ both strategies, I believe household
waste recycling rates will steadily increase.
