Executive Summary

This document and its attachments/appendices comprise a statement of work (SOW) dated June
6th, 2024 between Sheridan College – International Business Program and Musey. This
statement of work establishes the client’s international business objectives and the scope and
boundary of Sheridan’s international business plan deliverable. The purpose of this statement of
work is to document the expectations, roles and responsibilities of the client and Sheridan’s
student consulting team.
The purpose of this project is to conduct a Supply Chain Sustainability Audit in preparation for
Canada’s first Sustainable Fashion Week, hosted by Musey in September. The audit will assess
the sustainability practices of event attendees, mostly local small businesses, to identify areas for
improvement and recommend strategies to enhance their supply chain sustainability.

Client Introduction

Musey, a social enterprise founded in Mississauga, Ontario, by Maheshi Wanasundara, has


promoted luxury handmade items by Sri Lankan artisans since January 2021. Operating as an
online marketplace, Musey offers a range of products including Ayurvedic skincare, accessories,
clothing, and home decor. The company supports UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing
on sustainability, economic growth, and reducing inequalities by collaborating with women and
family-owned businesses in Sri Lanka.
Musey aims to achieve specific objectives with this project: conducting a comprehensive
sustainability audit, assessing environmental impacts, identifying improvement areas,
recommending sustainability strategies, and developing a self-assessment tool for businesses.

Scope
In-Scope

 Our strategic plan will begin by conducting a Supply Chain Sustainability Audit for potential
attendees (mainly local small businesses) of Canada's first Sustainable Fashion Week.
 Determining and measuring the number of small businesses in the area and their products
(like material sourcing, production processes, and transportation methods) that will be
included in the audit. This process might require setting standards for choosing and limiting
the focus when needed.
 Establishing metrics for assessing the environmental impact and sustainability of current
practices
 Developing surveys on sustainable practices including material sourcing, production
processes, and transportation.
 Reaching out to potential attendees and small businesses to gather initial data on their supply
chain practices.
 Analyzing the collected data to assess the current sustainability practices of each business.
 Identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in their supply chains
 Focusing on practical strategies such as adopting sustainable materials, minimizing waste,
and optimizing transportation methods.
 Preparation of a final report summarizing the outcomes of the audit, the progress of
participating businesses, and the overall impact of the project.

Consulting Charges and Expenses

 The Sheridan student consulting team is providing free consultation during its collaboration
with Musey.

o Clients can notify the Sheridan team of any additional needs during the consulting
period. If any expenses are incurred on behalf of a client, the client needs to

reimburse the Sheridan student consulting team. Before disbursement, the client
lead will record all expenditures and provide a summary of each payment.

Major Deliverables and Work Schedule

To conclude the International Business Plan, our team will follow a disciplined approach that
includes team meetings, client meetings, faculty meetings, and interim reports. The primary
phases of work include:

1. Project Kick-off
During the Project Kick-off phase, the major activities are to sign the Sheridan Group
Contract, create a Statement of Work, and hold an Initial Client Meeting to understand
the customer's condition and requirements. In addition, we will create a project overview,
specify weekly tasks, and set a delivery timetable.

2. Client Analysis and Market Research

The estimated schedule of activities and deliverables described in this Statement of Work are
based on the following key assumptions based on meetings and discussions with Musey
representatives.
1. Musey will assist and provide the necessary resources required to work with the
Sheridan Student Consulting team.
2. They will provide resources to complete specific tasks as required by the work schedule.
3. Musey is willing to meet and consult with the Sheridan Student Consulting team
whenever required throughout this project.

Next Steps

The Students Team, Client Representative, and Faculty Advisor collaborate closely in the
following steps:
1. The student team will undertake a thorough analysis of the market circumstances in the
chosen nation and evaluate the client's items within that framework. This procedure will
entail a comprehensive review and analysis of pertinent data. The Faculty Advisor will
give guidance throughout the research process. In addition, information will be obtained
from the customer to guarantee an accurate and complete study.
2. The Market entrance Report includes market entrance strategy, international legal
guidance, and risk management.
3. International Business Plan: A summary of the preceding reports.
4. Client presentation.

All phases of the project will be overseen by our Faculty Advisor, with the student team
conducting weekly meetings to ensure consistent progress and alignment with project
objectives. We will coordinate information requests and schedule client meetings in advance
with the MUSEY representative to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Regular updates and feedback sessions will be held to maintain transparency and address any
emerging issues promptly.
