Final Reflection on Writing Growth

Michael Mejia reflects on improving as a writer throughout his English 1101 course. He felt his writing prowess grew through key assignments like the RA paper and Genre Recreation paper, which challenged him to think outside the box and elevate his skills. The constant feedback from the teacher helped him most to recognize mistakes and improve. While organization was once a weakness, he progressed throughout the semester and kept an open mindset to learn from the course.

Final Reflection
My overall status in the class throughout the semester has been all about improving in every aspect as a writer. Although I still need more improvement, I have grown to be a better writer throughout this course and I feel that I can now move on to the next level of English classes so that I can further stimulate my writing prowess. Most of my developments have been due to key assignments in this course. All have had a major factor in helping me improve, but few have made a serious contribution. The RA paper and the Genre Recreation both helped me improve and better my writing. These papers challenged me into thinking both outside the box and elevate my writing skills. Thinking outside of the box refers to the way I handled the genre recreation and in finding a new way to present the genre. The best aspect of class that helped me the most was the constant help in improving and the overall training schedule that was implemented. My total mind set from the beginning of the semester has changed, making me very confident in the way I write. I can see more in depth at the mistakes that I make and fix them quicker to make my paper more efficiently written. As a result of my high expectations at the beginning Ive met my goals to improve myself in writing many papers as well as journal entries.

The greatest strength I have possessed during this whole semester has been keeping an open mind about everything that I write about. Putting my mind up for anything so that I can accomplish everything presented to me, has been another key goal. Revising my paper has also been added to my list of strengths although it could use more improvement. My main weakness is not wanting to change my paper in any way, shape, or form. Even though I know that by changing the paper it helps give it a better look, personally I feel that it changes the whole image I was trying to convey when I previously wrote it. I also tend to worry about how the writer feels when I review their papers. Mostly about the comments I leave and think if the comments I do leave will make their paper better or worse. Organization and paper structuration was my downfall in the beginning. Ive progressed throughout my papers so much to make myself an exceptional writer. In order to do so I just went with the flow and kept a total free mind set and let the course teach me. The teacher also gave me great input when I went to go see them about my papers. Those few things gave me a great advantage in the end and are the greatest improvement so far that I have done.
