Common questions

Candidates who have previously completed a part-time or regular (full-time) program in the foreign languages stream at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) headquarters in Hyderabad, or at its regional campuses, are not eligible for admission again if they wish to pursue a part-time program at the same level . This rule ensures that the admission opportunities are distributed equitably among all aspiring students. However, students enrolled in a regular (full-time) program in the English stream are allowed to pursue a part-time foreign language program during their regular studies .

Students enrolled in part-time programs at the English and Foreign Languages University are restricted in their access to campus facilities. They may only enter specific areas relevant to their courses and are prohibited from using the library, reading room, and computer lab due to high demand from regular students . Students must undertake to abide by these restrictions, with violations leading to immediate cancellation of admission without notice .

The Portuguese diploma program is conducted offline at EFLU, scheduled from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday . Consistent class timing provides structure and accommodates students who may be balancing studies with work or other obligations. This structured schedule facilitates learning continuity and regular engagement with the language .

Students pursuing part-time programs at EFLU are restricted to moving only between the campus entrance and their designated classrooms. They are explicitly prohibited from accessing other parts of the university, including libraries and computer labs, which are reserved for regular students. Violating these restrictions results in immediate cancellation of their admissions . This policy helps manage campus resource allocation and maintain a conducive learning environment exclusive for regular students .

EFLU mandates candidates to disclose any disciplinary actions, convictions, or pending legal proceedings in their application. If discovered, non-disclosure constitutes fraudulent practice, warranting legal action and automatic admission cancellation. The University retains the right to validate personal data and academic records at any stage, reinforcing this with stringent verification procedures to mitigate risk of fraudulent admissions .

EFLU prevents repeat enrollment in the same program level by making candidates who have completed any part-time or regular program in foreign languages at the same level ineligible for admission again. However, this rule applies only within the same language stream; students in the English stream can take up foreign language programs concurrently . This policy prevents redundancy in educational opportunities and encourages broad learning experiences .

The cut-off marks for entrance tests to EFLU's Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs vary by category: Unreserved/OBC creamy layer/KM/WDP require 50%, OBC non-creamy layer require 45%, and SC/ST/PwBD require 30% . This differential marking system accommodates variation in socio-economic factors among candidates while ensuring a competitive admission process. The reservation policy for the Economically Weaker Section follows government guidelines .

Candidates must have completed Class X/ SSLC/ SSC or its equivalent recognized by the Government of India to be eligible for the Certificate of Proficiency program in foreign languages at EFLU . Notably, there is no entrance test required for this program, simplifying the admission process for applicants who meet the basic educational requirement .

Candidates must disclose if they have been dismissed, debarred, convicted, or have any pending criminal charges. The University reserves the right to decide whether to consider such applications for admission. If any undisclosed legal or disciplinary issues are discovered later, the candidate's admission is deemed fraudulent, subjecting them to legal action and automatic cancellation of admission . Additionally, the University can verify applicant document authenticity and personal antecedents anytime, cancelling admission if any false information is discovered .

For EFLU's part-time programs, applications must be completed correctly and submitted online. Incomplete applications or those containing incorrect information are not considered for admission . This ensures a smooth and fair appraisal process, emphasizing the importance of candidates' attention to detail during the application process .
