PROCUREMENT OF 50 NOs PORTABLE PUMPS 800 LPM FOR
TELANGANA STATE DISASTER RESPONSE AND FIRE SERVICES
DEPARTMENT,
CUSTOMISED SPECIFICATION OF PORTABLE FIRE PUMP 800LPM WITH ACCESSORIES
1. GENERAL REQUIREMENT:
The unit shall consist of a petrol engine coupled with single stage centrifugal
pump having duty point of 800 L/min at pressure of5.0 Bar. The Pump shall
preferably be CE certified. The portable pump and engineunit shall be fitted on a
tubular frame with anti-vibration pads. The completeunit along with suitable
priming system shall be light weight so that it canbe easily stored in fire engine’s
utility compartment & easily carried by two men. Thepump should be able to work
for drinking water application & dewatering [Link] pump shall be
designed to work in all weather conditions withoutaffecting Engine and pump
performance.
2. ENGINE:
The Engine used shall be of reputed make such as Briggs& Stratton, Kohler,
Weber, etc. having min. 18 Hp, Twin cylinder, 4-stroke,Petrol driven, Air cooled
engine. It should have both Electric Self Start andmanual Recoil Type Rope Start as
standby. Electrical system should be provided with12 V arrangements for battery
charging. Silencer should be arranged to direct exhaustgas away from operator.
Fuel Tank capacity should be sufficient enough to run the pump for not less than 1
hours when operating at its rated output.
3. PUMP
The pump shall be single stage centrifugal type directlycoupled engine.
Material of construction is Light Aluminium Alloy asper IS 617-1994 or
[Link] pump shall comprise of volute body (casing),impeller, two screw
down type delivery outlets of 63mm (IS 903) and 100mm suction with round
threads (IS 902.) All parts of the pump exposed toatmosphere shall be suitably
protected against corrosion.

The pump shall be designed to have easy access to the impeller with the outer
face canying suction delivery and priming device etc.A drain plug shall be
provided at the bottom of the pump casing. Round threadsuction inlet shall be
provided with internal strainer and blank cap. Thestrainer shall be readily
removable, but shall be retained firmly in position
when in use. The delivery valves
shall be fitted with 63mm female instantaneous hoseconnection and blank cap.
Impeller shall be dynamically balanced and the pumpshall show no leakage when
subjected to a static hydraulic pressure test of 1.5times the maximum working
pressure.
4. PUMP PERFORMANCE:
The performance parameters shall match the PFPN6-500of EN 14466
standards. The portable pump is intended to be usedfor direct firefighting and also
for flood relief operations hence the below given parameters shall also be achieved
over and above the governing standards.
350 1/min --7.0 bar
800 l/min —5.0 bar
1200 I/min--2.0 bar
Note- All the above tests shall be conducted at NTPconditions and allowances as
per clause4.5.3.1ofIS 950 may be considered.
5. PRIMING SYSTEM
Reliable and effective priming system shall be providedfor priming the
pump. The priming system shall be able to prime thepump from the depth of 7.0mtrs
within 24 seconds at NTP conditions. The priming systemshould be simple and
shall be operated by s single person. The priming systemshall be either Rotary
Vane type or Exhaust Ejector type.
6. CARRYING FRAME
Frame work shall be of cradle design made of tubularStainless steel and
provided with anti-vibration pads. Frame shall be fittedwith four folding handles at
four comers to enable easy lifting/carrying of thepump by two men. The approx,
dimension shall be L 620x W580 x H 670mm. The totalready to use weight of the
Pump should not exceed 90Kgs.

7. CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS
A control panel consists of following controls andgauges grouped
conveniently should be mounted at suitable locationeasily accessible to operator.
The control panel shall be ergonomically designed forease of operation and
monitoring all the functions of the pump.

8. MARKING:
The Pump unit shall be clearly and permanently markedwith the following
information.
i. The output capacity of Pump in L.P.M.
ii. Manufacturers name and Trade name
iii. Weight of the Pump set
iv. Year of manufacturers

vi. Engine No.
9. WORKMANSHIP AND FINISH:
6) All parts of the appliance shall have good workmanship,
b) The appliance shall be painted in Fire Red Colorwherever applicable.

The pump will be tested for continuous run of fourhours delivering rated
output at 3 mtrs suction lift at NTP condition at thefactory premises of the tenderer.
During this test the temperature of the engine andlubricating oil shall not exceed
the limit stipulated by the engine manufacturer andshall not show any sign of stress
on the engine.

A toolkit comprising of all essential tools requiredfor maintenance of the
pump shall be supplied with pump. A Canvas Cover toCover up the unit should be
supplied with each Pump.

Instruction Book with operation Manual shall be providedat the time of
supply along with spare parts manual for engine andpump.

The entire unit shall be guaranteed for a period of twelve months from the
date of acceptance.
