 Remove/install
1 Switch off ignition.
2 Tilt cab.  Installation: Only tilt back cab after the
leak test.
3 Drain coolant at engine. AR20.00-W-1142H
4 Remove soundproofing.  Installation: Reinstall soundproofing only
after the leak test.
5 Remove power-steering pump for additional Only for vehicles with an additional steering

6 Remove air intake line (4) on compressor (5).

8 Remove compressed-air line (6) on fitting (7)  Union nut, compressed air line to *BA13.30-N-1010-01M
for compressor (5) and check for compressor fitting
carbonization.
If carbonization is visible,

Replace compressed-air line (6) and


carbonized parts.
9 Remove fitting (7) from compressor (5).  Installation: Replace sealing ring.
 Fitting to compressor *BA13.30-N-1008-01M
10 Remove control line (8) from compressor (5). Only on vehicles with code M6L(Air
compressor, 2 cylinder)
 Installation: Replace sealing ring.
 Banjo bolt or retaining screw for control *BA13.30-N-1012-01M
line to compressor
11 Remove coolant line (10).  Unlatch safety clips on coolant line (10).
Collect escaping coolant using suitable vessel.
12 Remove coolant line (9) from compressor (5).  Unlatch safety clip on coolant line (9).
Collect escaping coolant using suitable vessel.
13 Expose electric line (12) on bracket (11).
14 Remove bracket (11).  Screw/bolt, compressor bracket to *BA13.30-N-1006-01M
crankcase
 Screw/bolt, bracket to compressor *BA13.30-N-1007-01M
15 Release and disconnect electrical connector Only for vehicles with code A1A (Front axle
(18) on engine management (MCM) control air-sprung).

16 Expose electrical wiring harness (19) in area Only for vehicles with code A1A (Front axle

20 Check drive gear (15) for damage. If the drive gear (15) is damaged,

23 Install in the reverse order
24 Check engine oil level on display; correct if  Observe set engine oil specification in the

25 Start engine and perform an engine test run.  Allow the engine to run at a higher engine
speed.
If engine fails to start or only runs for a brief

Fill low-pressure fuel circuit.
