•That means living consciously at your full potential and

Self-development has three segments:

• Skill enhancement is the development of personal skills,
abilities, and competencies.
Mental Conditioning
• Mental conditioning is the process of building and
strengthening our minds.
Habit Creation
• Habit creation is the conscious establishment of behaviors or
thoughts in an attempt to improve ourselves.

Attitude
The opinions and feelings that you usually have
about something, especially when this is shown
in your behavior.
Attitude can be defined as our response to
people, places, things, or events in life.
It can be referred to as a person’s viewpoint,
mindset, beliefs, etc.
Negative attitude
• People with a negative attitude ignore the good,
and pay attention to the bad in people,
situations, events, etc. Also, they are likely to
complain about changes, rather than adapting to
the changing environment.

• Indifference and Detachment are traits that
represent neutral attitude
• People with a neutral attitude don’t give enough
importance to situations or events. They ignore the
problem, leaving it for someone else to solve. Also,
they don’t feel the need to change. Their traits

Humanism
• Humanism is a philosophy that that gives importance to
human factors rather than looking at religious, divine, or
spiritual matters, set of laws etc. Humanism is rooted in the
idea that people have an ethical responsibility to lead lives
that are personally fulfilling while at the same time
contributing to the greater good for all people.
• Humanism stresses the importance of human values and
dignity.
• Humanism is an attitude towards human life and human
values that entails the harmony of natural phenomena.
ORIGIN OF HUMANISM IN INDIA
• Around 200 B.C. at the time of Vedas and Upanishads in
India. The Prayer begins with
"Sarvatra Sukhinah Santu Sarve Santu Niramayah “

Indian Humanism is known as integrated humanism or integral
humanism.
Man consisting of body, mind , intellect and soul taken together
along with an integrated Universe consisting of Man, Society,
Nature , the whole range of creation both natural and artificial .
• According to integral humanism the nation a
natural unit of society.
• As per Indian humanism, again, is based on
four-fold eternal values

Value
Value denotes the degree of importance of some thing or action.
Values are basic and fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate
attitudes or actions. They help us to determine what is important
to us.
Values can be defined as broad preferences concerning
appropriate courses of actions or outcomes
Values are the basic convictions that give us a sense of right and
wrong, good and bad. Thus values form the basis of ethical
behavior.
Types of Values
Human Values : Related to fundamental rights and justice(Freedom
,Health, happiness,respect)
Individual Values : Represents the character of a person
(honesty,tolerance,broad minded,reliable,efficient,egoist,arrogant,greedy,generous).
End Values :End values are desired or preferred outcome( improved
sales,profits,happiness, satisfaction.
Instrumental Values : Means chosen to achieve end
values( honesty, truth, hard work,courtesy,self-
confedence,cooperation,acceptance)
Positive/ Negative Values : ( violence /non
voilence,honest/dishonest)
Spiritual Values : The values of truth and righteousness(
peace, happiness,simplicity,purity)
