Step
Train from Copenhagen Airport to Svendborg via Odense
There are two types of connection you can take to arrive in Svendborg – one is a train to Nyborg and then
a bus to Svendborg, second is a train to Odense and another train to Svendborg. We recommend to use
the latter connection via Odense, as bus ticket can only be purchased from a bus driver with cash (Danish
Kroner). Below instruction is therefore focused on how to train with the train via Odense.

Where to go at Copenhagen Airport?

Once you arrive at Copenhagen Airport you will exit at Terminal 3, after passing the baggage collection
point. Head straight forward towards the sign ‘Train and Metro’. Once you pass Spor/Track 1 you will
see a red DSB ticket machines. That is where you can buy your train ticket. There is always someone from
DSB service who can help you with the process. Once you have the ticket proceed to Track 2, which is
where you will board your train. The entrance to Track 2 is located just behind the red ticket machines,
on both sides of the hallway.

Please note that some connections to Odense are not direct
and require you to change the train at Copenhagen Central
Station (København H). There is enough time (usually a few
minutes) to change train at the main station. Once you arrive
go up the stairs to the main hall. In the center of the station,
near entrance to Track 5-6, there is a big screen with
departures. You can find the track for your train to Odense
there.

Picture 5. Entrance to Track 2 is marked with this sign.

Hint
Do not look for Odense as destination on the
departure monitor, as it is not a final station of your
train. Odense is only a mid-stop for all the trains.
Your train’s destination could be one of the
following: Aalborg, Lindholm, Esbjerg, Frederikshavn,
Sønderborg, Aarhus, etc.

If you want to check the train the most optimal way

is to look for departure time on your ticket and
compare with the time on the screen or simply
check the number of your train (ex. Re 1089, ICL 59,
etc.)
Even though your travel includes a change of trains
in Odense, you can buy a ticket for the whole trip Picture 6. Monitor on the track showing train and its carriages
already at the airport. You should also buy a seat in
order to make sure you have a comfortable travel. Your seat number and carriage will be indicated on
the ticket. On the monitor on the track you can also see in which track section (A, B, C, D, etc.) your
carriage will arrive.

Important information – International credit cards and currency

You can use the following cards in the ticket machines:
• Issued in Denmark: Dankort, VISA/Dankort, VISA, Eurocard, Maestro or VISA Electron
• Issued abroad: Visa, Eurocard or MasterCard

If you are not in possession of any of those cards you can pay for the ticket with Danish currency – Danish
Kroner. Therefore please be prepared and have at least 1000 DKK with you for the travel.
If you are not able to arrange Danish currency in your country, there is an exchange point at the airport
where you can exchange US dollars to Danish Kroner. It is called Global Exchange and it is located at
Terminal 3. Opening times are from 04:00 until 22:30 every day.

It is important that you catch the train before 20.00. After that time trains are limited in the season and
outside of the season there are no more trains until the next day.
If your flight got delayed and you did not manage to catch the train to Odense, you could use one of the
following options (please follow your company travel guidelines):

• You can take a train to Nyborg and a bus / taxi from Nyborg to MT Svendborg (distance: 50 km,
estimated cost DKK 760 for taxi and DKK 80 for bus).
• You can book a hotel in Copenhagen airport and take first available morning train. You should
calculate 3 hours for the trip. Check [Link] for schedules.
• It is possible to take a taxi all the way from the airport to MT Svendborg. The cost is approximately
DKK 3100 and the trip takes 2-2,5 hours (distance 200 km).
