8 Automation Studio Target for Simulink
8.1 Installation

IMPORTANT
‘A cic++ compiler is required to compile Simulink models. This can be configured in MAT-
LAB with command line command "mex -setup". For compatible compilers, see co. mathwork.

Example with Visual Studio C++ 2017 compiler:

+ Simulink Coder and/or Embedded Coder Toolbox (usually automatically included with the license when
MATLAB/Simulink is installed)

+ NET Framework V4.5 or later (latest version automatically installed if not found)
+ Technology Guard software (latest version automatically installed if not found)

launched from Control Panel / Programs and functions.

Licensing procedure
Once Automation Studio Target for Simulink has been installed, it must be licensed. if Automation Studio Target
for Simulink has not yet been licensed, the licensing dialog boxis automatically displayed to enter a license key. If

Depending on the selected license type, a Technology Guard for storing the license is needed (Technology Guard-
ing) or a licensing key must be entered in the licensing dialog box. Evaluation licenses and student licenses can
be requested directly on the B&R website.
‘There are 2 options for licensing Automation Studio Target for Simul
+ Online activation with a valid license key
+ Hardware dongle

Enter the supplied B&R license key in the input field. Clicking button Activate will automatically license the B&R
‘Automation Studio Target for Simulink version online over an existing Internet connection.
‘A.80-day evaluation license can also be requested. The linkin the licensing dialog box directs to the E&I website.
‘When selecting an evaluation license, an emails sent to the specified address after the form has been filed out.
‘This email contains a license key that can be activated in the licensing dialog box. The remaining evaluation period
is shown each time Automation Studio Target for Simulink is started. After 90 calendar days, Automation Studio
Target for Simulink must be licensed again.
Hardware dongle
Connect the supplied hardware dongle to an available USB slot and load the license onto the dongle via the
Technology Guarding interface.
