Case Study
Case Study: Fire broke out at level 2 near K201 tower. A trainee injures her ankle while coming down from the
stairs. She is now located at level 2 near FIC 214 control valve area.
You are in the ERP team. List down the Emergency Actions in sequences.
Step 1: Notify Inform the manager in-charge about the current situation. Any accidents that were to happened during working hours, the shift
supervisor on duty will activate in house emergency response procedure. The site incident controller will be informed and they will
call SCDF in the control room by telephone about the situation that is happening. The SIC will be the liaison officer with SCDF ground
commander and will provide information and necessary assistance. They will then proceed to give further instructions to the SCDF
officers.
Press the fire alarm to inform the rest of the people in site. To alert them to evacuate as soon as possible.
Step 2: Everyone onsite have been educated beforehand about the routes of evacuation and the locations of all control point. Some
example are CERT Reporting Point, First Aid Point and people to search for when any occasion happens. To ensure that when giving
Evacuate signals, the indicator is at an area where everyone would be able to see them. Everyone at unit 100, 200, and 300 to use the route
that are assigned for them specifically to the safe area which is the carpark.
Step 3: Mitigate Start with the emergency shutdown procedure. Press the red button on the control panel to shut everything down and stop the
electricity from flowing.
For the injured trainee, help lift up her ankle higher so that it can help to slow down the blood flowing to her ankle and it can reduce
the swelling. If there is any materials nearby, we can also use it to reduce the pain.
Step 4: The company will carry out clean up procedures when it is at the recovery stage. This is to ensure that the plant will operate
smoothly in the future.
