the PowerPoint slides to show the name of the game).
Who knows this game? "Me, Ma’am!"
(The students raise their

A. DISCUSSION
Remember these images?
What are those again? " Yes, Ma'am"
"Railway!"
"Guitar"
"Window, Ma'am"
Okay. Very good.
Those are examples of our topic today, Parallel and
Perpendicular lines.
First let's talk about Parallel lines.
( The teacher show the definition of Parallel lines through
slides)
Can someone read the definition?
Parallel lines are coplanar lines that do not intersect. " Parallel lines are coplanar
lines that do not intersect. "
Okay. Thank You.
Parallel lines are lines that do not intersect no
matter how far they are extended. Lines m and n do not
intersect, and are parallel. You write this as 𝑚 ∥ 𝑛. The
symbol ∥ is read as “is parallel to”.
Example:
The guitar strings are parallel, they do not intersect.
Another example is the window, its sides do not intersect.
From the class? Aside from the guitar string and the sides
of the window, what other lines do we see around us that
do not intersect?
Very good.
" Notebook, Ma'am. Their
sides do not intersect. "
Another Example?
Very good.
Those are the examples of Parallel lines.
" Pencil Ma'am. Their edge
do not intersect. "
Next is Perpendicular lines.
When two lines intersect to form right angles, the two
lines are said to be perpendicular to each other.
In the accompanying figure, ─AB and ─CD intersect at
point O to form right angles. We say that AB is
perpendicular to CD. In symbols, we write AB ⊥ CD.
Since ∠𝐴𝑂𝐶 and ∠𝐵𝑂𝐶 form a linear pair, they are
supplementary. That is 𝑚∠𝐴𝑂𝐶 + 𝑚∠𝐵𝑂𝐶 = 180°
The two lines inside the kite intersect each other at right
angles are perpendicular
List the total number of right angles formed at the
intersection.
Since the two lines AB and CD intersect each other at
right angles, there are 4 right angles at the intersecting
point.
What are those angles?
Okay Very good!
What's the other angle?
Very good.
They were all perpendicular and form 90° "Angle AOD = Angle AOC"
"Angle DOB = Angle BOC"
GENERALIZATION
Class how do we determine perpendicular lines?
How about Parallel lines?
Very good.
" Perpendicular Lines
What is the geometrical symbol for perpendicular lines? intersect and form 90°"
And for parallel? " Parallel lines are coplanar
lines that do not intersect. "
⊥, Maam.
∥ , Ma'am.
Assessment:
Label each pair of lines perpendicular or parallel. 1. Parallel lines
2. Perpendicular lines
3. Parallel lines
4. Parallel lines
5. Perpendicular lines
6. Perpendicular lines
7. Parallel lines
8. Perpendicular lines
9. Perpendicular lines
10. Parallel lines
