1.5 Review
Class, do you still remember our topic Yes, Ma'am. Yesterday, we learned
yesterday? If yes, what it is? about the effect of the environment on
the life cycle of organisms.
Okay, What it is all about?
We discussed that the different
organisms go through life cycle which can
be affected by their environment.
Yehey! That's great!
1.6 Drill
Before we proceed to our new lesson.
We will going to learn and sing new
song.
I will sing the song first and then you
will follow me and we will sing all

1.6 Motivation
Thank you my grade 4 singers. Now
we will be having a game. I will group
you into two groups. The pupils on the
left part will be the group 1 and the
pupils on the right side will be the
group 2.
The game is called Animal Word. I will
read a short selection and the last
letter of animal that I will be mention
will then supply another name of
animal by the group and so on.
I will provide a bell between the two

name of animal.
Each group will be given only five
seconds. If they fail to supply an animal
name for 5 seconds, the next group
may steal the turn. The group who will
first collect 9 animal names will be the
winner.
Are you ready class?
Okay, lets start.
Selection: Last Sunday, I went to the
zoo.
I was tasked to list down
fortyseven(47) different kinds of
animals that I can see. During the first
hour, I was only able to list only
[Link] many more animals do I need
to find? Of course we need more 17
animals.
B. EXPLORE
Eyes on me, please, because I am
going to tell a very nice story.
Are you excited to listen, class? Yes, we are excited!
Okay, then let’s begin.
Mang Eco and his Carabao's
Friends
One day, Mang Eco visited his farm to
feed his favorite animal, the carabao.
Mang Eco forgot the rope of his
carabao, so he went back to his house
to get the rope. While waiting, Carabao
roamed around and then saw Heron,
her close friend. Their friendship started
because Carabao is kind. She gives
Heron food whenever he's hungry. And
Heron also helps Carabao relieve body
irritation that can cause her to get sick.
They roam and roam around until they
reach the forest. The carabao saw an
orchid, which is likely beautiful, covering
the tree. She's hungry and loves to eat
flowers. But Carabao can't reach the
orchids and looks for some water to
drink instead.
They go to the river to drink some water.
While drinking, Carabao was suddenly
disturbed by a noisy sound buzzing in
her ears. The carabao was
about to run, but the mosquito was just
trying to annoy her. And mosquitoes
quickly disappear! Carabao was
surprised! When she saw a frog eating
a mosquito, she said, Frog and Carabao
are friends; they meet each other when
Carabao swims every morning on the
river. Carabao gives thanks to her friend
Frog before going back to the farm.
Mang Eco went back to the farm with
the rope from his carabao. But Mang
Eco saw his plants as unhealthy
because they were surrounded by
weeds. So he removed all the weeds,
but Mang Eco was irritated because so
many mosquitoes were biting him. He
went out from his plants and saw that
his carabao had arrived. Mang Eco and
his carabao went out to the grasslands
and finally fed their carabao.
1. Where is the story all about?
About Mang Eco and his Carabao's
friends
2. What are the animals mentioned
in the story? Carabao
Mosquitoes
Heron
3. What carabao encountered Frog
when she roam around the forest?
Carabao meets different animals and
plants and the relationship of these with
both species
4. What plants are mentioned in Orchids
the story?
Tree
Rice plant
5. Why Carabao didn't reach the
orchids?
Because she can't crawl up to the tree
where orchids is placed.
6. What relationships do these Because the carabao is short
animals commonly have?
There are some beneficial and some
harmful relationships
Very good, class. It seems that you
already have an idea about our topic
today.
Do you want more?
Okay, then teacher Fion's will give you Yes, we want more.
more information about our new topic.
C. EXPLAIN
Hello again, class; it's me again,
Teacher Fion's. And now I am going to
continue the discussion. Did you have
Yes, we enjoyed it so much.
fun from the last episode, Kids?
Really? Yes!
Wow! That’s amazing Kids.
Now, let’s proceed to our new lesson
for today.
But before that, let me hear your idea
based on the story and the activity that
you have done. What do you think of Teacher?
our new lesson for today? What is it all
about?
Yes, what is your answer? It is all about the beneficial and harmful
interactions among living things
That’s right!
Our lesson for today is about the
beneficial and harmful interactions
among living things
Kids, I want you to observe carefully
the following interactions among
organisms. Which of then belongs to
beneficial interactions and harmful
interactions? Let’s find out as we begin
our lesson for today!
There are interactions where both
species benefit from the relationship
and there are also interactions where
one species benefits but the other is
neither affected nor harmed.
MUTUALISM and COMMENSALISM
are interactions that are beneficial and
important for survival.
Beneficial Interactions
[Link]
- Is the type of interaction where both
species benefit from the relationship.
Example: Bees and Flowers
Flowers depend on bees to pollinate
and the Bees sip the flowers nectar as
a food. So, both the flower and the
bees help each other.
Other example is human
Human needs plants for food and
oxygen. On the other hand, plants
need carbon dioxide during the
process of photosynthesis.
2. Commensalism
- Is the type of interaction where
one organism benefits while the other is
not harmed nor affected.
Example: Orchids and Tree
The tree provides a place where the
orchids could grow and the tree isn’t
harmed nor affected.
Yes!
Isn’t amazing, Class?
There are also Harmful Interactions
these are the Predation, Parasitism,
and Competition.
[Link]
- Is the type of interaction where
one organism benefits while the other
one harmed or badly affected.
Predator- The one that usually
benefits.
Prey- The one that is harmed
Example: The Frog and the Insect
The frog use its sticky Tongue out to its
target and swallow its prey.
The Frog is the predator and its prey is
the insect.
Other example is fox hunting the deer
for food.
2. Parasitism
- Is the type of interaction where one
organism benefits from the interaction
while the other one is harmed or badly
affected.
-The organisms that usually benefit
from the interaction is called Parasites
and the one that is affected is the host.
Example: The Human and the
Mosquito
Mosquitoes bite humans and feed by
their( human) blood.
The Mosquito is the parasite and its
host is the human.
The Parasites could be Internal or
External parasites.
Internal Parasites- are those found
inside the body of a host stomach like
ascaris ( a type of a worm in the
human stomach).
External Parasites- are those found
outside of the host body like aphids
and ticks on the dog’s body.
Parasites cannot live alone. They must
live in a living host. Some parasites do
slight harm to their host and others can
kill their host.
3. Competition
- Is the type of interaction where
organisms compete for food, sunshine,
space, shelter, water, and other things
that they need for survival.
Each organism in this kind of
relationship is a competitor.
Example: Plants
Plants compete for resources including
nutrients, light, water, space, pollinators
and other.
Because of competition plants do not
grow well.
D. ELABORATE
Now, let’s check if you catch up our
discussion by having an activity.
Are you ready for another activity? Yes, we are ready!
That's great! So now, let's have an

VII. REMARKS
Our journey about our preparation for the demo task ultimately comes down to
unending planning, brainstorming, and practice. Our preparation is still ongoing
because we are still preparing for our demo teaching[visual aids, instructional
materials, strategies, and familiarizing our lesson plan content]. Part of our
preparation is aiming to be relaxed and confident in our demonstration, and we
also learning to show our enthusiasm and passion for the topic. We are preparing
for our demonstration to be accessible to the intended learners, as well as factually
or procedurally accurate and clearly effective in terms of student/learner learning.
VIII. REFLECTION
Doing and preparing for a lesson plan is not easy because we encounter so much
confusion, undecided learning objectives, thinking about activities that will fit in 30
minutes of demo teaching, the content of our lesson plan, looking for resources and
references, and a lot of other questions that come to our minds. Despite those ups
and downs in preparing for our demo task, one thing that keeps us doing our best
to finish our teaching demonstration successfully is our goal and objectives, which
is to attain not only that we can create and follow a lesson plan but also that we can
engage and interact with learners [our future pupils] to enhance their learning. .
