1. Planning Information
A. Effectivity
(1) Only Hartzell Propeller Inc. propeller models ( )HC-( )3Y( )( )-( ) that were
originally equipped with the B-3252(L) pitch change fork assembly are affected
by this Service Letter.
(2) Hartzell Propeller Inc. propeller models ( )HC-( )3Y( )( )-( ) that were originally
equipped with the B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly are not affected by
this Service Letter.

contained in this service letter may be significantly
changed from earlier revisions. failure to comply with
this service letter or the use of obsolete information
may create an unsafe condition that may result in death,

recent revision level of this Service Letter.
B. Concurrent Requirements
(1) Additional service documents may apply to the components/propellers
affected by this Service Letter. Compliance with additional service documents
may be necessary in conjunction with the completion of the Accomplishment
Instructions in this Service Letter. Refer to the Hartzell Propeller Inc. website at
[Link] for a cross-reference of service documents.
C. Reason
(1) To standardize manufacturing processes and reduce parts inventory, Hartzell
Propeller Inc. has replaced the B-3252(L) pitch change fork assembly with the
B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly on all of the affected models.
(2) Regulatory action is not expected.

D. Description
(1) This document provides Additional Maintenance Information (AMI).
(2) This Service Letter introduces the B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly
as an alternate to the B-3252(L) pitch change fork assembly for the affected
propeller models only.
(3) Affected propeller assemblies are now shipping from Hartzell Propeller Inc. with
the B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly.
(4) Hartzell Propeller Inc. will replace an order for a B-3252(L) pitch change fork
assembly with the B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly.
E. Compliance

caution: Do not install the b-3252(L) pitch change fork


assembly on a propeller that was originally
equipped with the b-3252-2(L) pitch change fork
assembly. refer to the illustrated parts list in the
appropriate overhaul manual to determine which
pitch change fork assembly was originally used on
the propeller.
(1) When replacement of the pitch change fork assembly is required, install a new
or serviceable B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly, or a new or serviceable
B-3252(L) pitch change fork assembly in accordance with the Accomplishment
Instructions in this Service Letter.

3. Accomplishment Instructions
A. Disassembly, inspection, and assembly of the propeller and propeller hub must
be performed by a propeller service facility licensed by a governmental regulatory
agency, e.g. FAA, EASA, CAA.
B. Disassembly
(1) Remove the pitch change fork assembly in accordance with the applicable
overhaul manual.
C. Inspection Requirements
(1) Visually and dimensionally inspect the pitch change fork assembly in
accordance with the applicable overhaul manual.

D. Assembly

caution: Do not install the b-3252(L) pitch change fork


assembly on a propeller that was originally
equipped with the b-3252-2(L) pitch change fork
assembly. refer to the illustrated parts list in the
appropriate overhaul manual to determine which
pitch change fork assembly was originally used on
the propeller.
(1) Install a new or serviceable B-3252-2(L) pitch change fork assembly, or a new
or serviceable B-3252(L) pitch change fork assembly in accordance with the
applicable overhaul manual.
E. Make an entry in the propeller logbook indicating compliance with this Service Letter.
F. Recommended Service Facilities
(1) Hartzell Propeller Inc. has a worldwide network of Recommended Service
Facilities that are recommended by Hartzell Propeller Inc. for overhaul and
repair of our products.
(2) Each service facility must meet standard FAA requirements and additional
Hartzell Propeller Inc. requirements before being recommended by Hartzell
Propeller Inc. Each service facility is audited by Hartzell Propeller Inc. to verify
the continuation of the standards.
(3) Hartzell Propeller Inc. recommends that you use one of these service facilities
when having your propeller overhauled or repaired.
