Broken V’s Wrap 2 of 5
The eyelet pattern is worked twice, in slightly different arrangements, with a short stocking stitch
interval between them. The centre back of the wrap is a longer stocking stitch section. The
eyelet pattern is then repeated twice more. Top, bottom and long side borders are in garter
stitch.
Note: A guideline on altering the width of the wrap is found at the end of these instructions (page
4).

TECHNIQUES AND ABBREVIATIONS
Knitted cast-on: [Link] (Called “knitting on” in this
article.)
RS: Right side of work, as seen when worn. WS: Wrong (back) side / even-numbered rows.
Garter stitch: Knit all rows. On right side of work, wrong-side rows will show as purl-bump ridges.
Stocking stitch: Knit on RS, purl on WS.
Sl1: Slip 1 stitch with yarn in front. Used on first stitch of every row to form a neat, chain-like selvedge.
Slip the stitch as if to purl, then return yarn to back of work for the following knit stitch. Take care not to
unnecessarily stretch the slip stitch.
K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together as 1 stitch through front loops.
Ssk: Slip, slip, knit. Slip the next 2 stitches one at a time as if to knit, then insert point of left-hand needle
into the fronts of these 2 stitches and knit them together from this position.
Yo: Yarn over. Between 2 knit stitches, move the yarn forward and then over the right-hand needle to
back of work. Knit the next stitch, leaving the strand formed by the yo to be purled on the next row.
Basic bind-off: [Link] (To be worked knit-wise on WS.)

Centre of wrap:
Work approximately 52 cm / 20 inches in stocking stitch, maintaining garter stitch borders as established.
Lengthen or shorten this section as desired.
Continue in eyelet pattern:
Work first and second eyelet sections as before.
Complete wrap:
Work 2 rows in stocking stitch, maintaining side borders.
Starting on RS, work 9 rows in garter stitch, maintaining slip-stitch on first stitch of each row.
Bind off knit-wise on WS to form a fifth garter ridge. A basic bind-off worked with a right-hand needle 2 or
3 sizes larger than the main needle will allow for a stretchy edge.
Work in yarn ends.
Wet-blocking the completed piece will give a smooth, polished finish. If you have used Holst Garn
Supersoft, soaking with a yarn wash is essential to remove the spinning oil and to allow the yarn to
“bloom”.
Altering the width:
For a wider wrap, work the 22-stitch pattern repeat written inside parentheses 7 or 8 times instead of 6.
For a narrower piece (or a wrap worked in heavier yarn on larger needles), work fewer pattern repeats.
At the original gauge, each repeat is approximately 8 cm / 3 inches wide.
