To install and ensure the secure fitting of a reaction arm on a B-RAD power tool, one should ensure that the reaction arm and snap ring are properly installed to securely hold the reaction arm in place. Verify that the reaction arm makes contact with a solid contact point before operating the tool, and keep body parts clear of the reaction arm during operation .

To maintain long-term efficiency of NiMH battery packs in RAD power tools, store them fully charged and recharge them every six months to avoid performance degradation. Charge and discharge the battery packs five times to reach full charging capacity. Avoid exhaustive discharges to extend the number of charging cycles, and always recharge the battery pack if performance diminishes, as there is no memory effect with NiMH batteries .

Setting the correct torque on the B-RAD power tool is crucial to ensure the tool applies the appropriate amount of force needed for a specific task without damaging the fasteners or the tool itself. Failure to set the correct torque can result in the clutch mechanism slipping excessively, leading to potential tool damage if the clutch is allowed to slip for extended periods. Additionally, incorrect torque settings can compromise the safety of the operation .

It is important for repairs of RAD power tools to be conducted by qualified electricians to ensure safety and prevent further damage. Qualified electricians possess the necessary expertise to diagnose and fix issues accurately, reducing the risk of electrical hazards and ensuring the tool functions correctly after repair. Amateur repair attempts could lead to potentially dangerous malfunctions or void warranties .

In RAD battery chargers, trickle charging is the process that begins automatically after the initial fast or pulsed-current charging is completed. The unit switches over to trickle charging where the operating indicator light flashes at longer intervals. This feature allows the battery-pack to be left in the charger indefinitely so that it remains fully charged and ready for use .

Removal of a RAD battery pack from the charger is necessary immediately if the warning indicator flashes, indicating that the battery pack is defective. Immediate removal is also required if there is a short-circuit between the charging contacts, or if foreign bodies are present in the charging shaft socket that could lead to malfunctioning .

If a continuous warning indicator is active without charging, it indicates the temperature of the battery-pack is outside the acceptable range (too high/too low). Ensure the battery's temperature is between 32°F and 120°F (0°C and 49°C). If the issue persists, inspect for dirty contacts or foreign objects in the charging shaft socket. Correct these and reconnect the charger. If the problem continues, professional check or repair may be needed .

Battery charger self-tests are significant because they confirm that the charger is functioning correctly. When connected to an electrical supply, the red and green indicators light up to signal the completion of the self-test. This validation step helps identify any immediate issues with the charger's functionality, ensuring that the charger will perform effectively when charging battery packs, which helps prevent potential operational problems .

Key safety precautions for handling battery packs for RAD power tools include keeping battery packs dry, not using any damaged or deformed battery pack, avoiding exposure to fire, not breaking into battery packs, and not touching battery pack contact terminals or short-circuiting them. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with skin or eyes, immediate rinsing with plenty of water is required, and medical attention should be sought if necessary .

The 'switch-on lock,' or transportation safety device, ensures the tool is not accidentally activated during transport or idle times. It should be engaged when the motor is at a standstill, set at right-hand or left-hand rotation as appropriate, and in a central position to serve as a lock for transportation or storage .
