INTRODUCTION TO PERSONAL COMPUTERS: :
This elementary course is designed for the beginner. You will be led through the main
components, coming to grips with the computer jargon and using a variety of selected
programs for school, business and home use. The aim is for the trainee to acquire a “Driver's
License” on completion of this one-day course.
INTRODUCTION TO BASIC:
A course designed to enable a novice programmer to write short, non-mathematical programs
The main purpose we see for teaching programming is to teach the concept that —
computers and their programs are made by humans not magic!
INTERMEDIATE BASIC:
Extends the skills learnt in the introductory course. Intermediate BASIC will give programmers
the tools needed to develop more complex programs and to use the Apple ile graphics, sound
and file processing capabilities.
ADVANCES BASIC:
A course for those who have elementary skills in programming and BASIC. Topics covered will
include further use of graphics, introduction to sound effects, and file processing.
COMPUTING FOR BEGINNERS WORKING WITH LOGO:
Introduces children, teachers and parents to an exciting, useful and creative programming
language that is changing the way computing is taught. Apple Logo teaches programming
techniques through Turtle Geometry and is a virtually unlimited educational tool — learning
through discovery.
WORD PROCESSING:
A course designed for adults and students of all ages. Using “Zardax” as a writing tool for
administration, business or home use. Let us introduce you to the concept
COMPUTING FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN:
A computer literacy course designed to teach students of all ages the fundamentals of
computing. This course is designed to be good fun, leaving the participants with the desire to
learn more about computers. It includes elements of programming, word processing and
graphics.
“APPLEWORKS” — INTEGRATED WORD PROCESSING/SPREADSHEET/DATA BASE:
Using a DataBase can be easily compiled and integrated with word processing and files.
Additionally financial modelling (Spreadsheeting) can be done and cut-and-pasted to the
DataBases and/or word processed text. This is the most powerful application package
available for APPLE professional systems. Suitable for School Administration and Business.
‘SPECIAL COURSES:
Our Training Room is set up with ten Apple, Macintosh or IBM PC computers and is
available for you to hire at $250 per day. Lecturers are also available on request. Other
courses available include: PASCAL, FORTRAN, COBAL, advanced uses of application
packages such as: MULTIMATE, OMNIS Ill, dBASE Ill, LOTUS 1-2-3 and SYMPHONY.
‘Special courses can be arranged to meet specific needs for individual schools or
corporations and can be held at The Computer Shop’s Learning Centre or in-house.
