"Carmen" Concert
At 8:00 PM on March 15, 2024, I had the opportunity to attend the "Carmen"
concert at the Hanoi Opera House. This was one of the most memorable musical events I
have ever experienced, and I want to share my journey and emotions about this concert.
The Hanoi Opera House, with its magnificent and classical architecture, created an ideal
space for the performance. The sparkling lights, the lively chatter, and the subtle
fragrance of flowers made me feel as though I was stepping into a completely different
world.
The opera "Carmen" by composer Georges Bizet is one of the most famous and
frequently performed works globally. Written in the 1880s, "Carmen" has become an icon
of opera with its captivating melodies and storyline. The setting of the story takes place in
Seville, Spain, around 1830, revolving around the life of Carmen, a beautiful and alluring
Gypsy woman, and Don José, a young and inexperienced corporal.
The opera opened with intense and captivating music, drawing the audience into
the world of old Seville. The artists from the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, along
with the Hanoi Voices International Choir, performed excellently under the baton of
conductor Dong Quang Vinh. Director Cindy Leung Siu Kwan and choreographer
People's Artist Nguyen Hong Phong created a vibrant and colorful stage, keeping the
audience glued to their seats.
Carmen, portrayed by an outstanding female artist, truly came to life on stage with
the beauty and allure characteristic of the character. She captivated Don José, causing
him to abandon his former love, rebel against his commander, and join a group of
smugglers. However, Don José's jealousy and blind love led to tragedy as he killed
Carmen in a fit of rage.
My emotions throughout the concert were a blend of admiration, emotion, and
exhilaration. Bizet's music brought moments of elevation, sometimes filled with tension
and drama, but always full of emotion. Each musical piece, each scene left a deep
impression on my mind. After the concert ended, I left the Hanoi Opera House with a
feeling of nostalgia and emotion. "Carmen" was not just an opera, but an emotional
journey that took me through various levels of love, passion, and tragedy. This was truly
a memorable experience, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to participate
in such a wonderful artistic event. I hope there will be more events like this in the future
so that we can continue to immerse ourselves in the colorful and emotional world of art.
Experiencing the "Carmen" concert at the Hanoi Opera House was a profound
reminder of the transformative power of music and performance. It allowed me to
connect deeply with the emotions and narratives presented on stage, highlighting the
timeless appeal of Bizet's masterpiece. Such cultural events are vital for fostering a rich,
artistic environment in our community, and I eagerly look forward to attending many
more in the future. Through these experiences, we not only celebrate the beauty of art but
also enrich our own lives with its myriad expressions of human experience.
