conservation movement focused on protecting
species from extinction, maintaining and restoring
habitats, enhancing ecosystem services, and
protecting biological diversity. A

Animals that grow or live in the wild without any human interference are known as wildlife.
Importance of wildlife is as follows: Wildlife helps keep the food chain in place and thereby
maintain ecological stability. It also helps maintain the stability of the various natural processes
The wildlife sanctuaries are established to protect the endangered species. It is quite difficult
to always relocate the animals from their natural habitat, therefore, protecting them in their
natural environment is advantageous. The endangered species are specially monitored in the
wildlife sanctuaries.
-MAHARASHTRA-
Pench National
Park
It is famous for its ferocious Bengal Tigers that
boasts a significant amount of tourism in the
park. At present, there are around 50 tigers
residing in the prey-rich woodlands of park's
region. Besides this, the park also has 39
species of mammals 13 species of reptiles and
3 species of amphibians.

Sancturies
The sanctuary has a diverse variety of mammals
including the keystone species, Bengal tigers (>6).
Also, Indian leopards (14), Indian gaur (220-250), sloth
bears (70-80), sambar deer (160-175), barking deer
(180-200) and mouse deer, gray langurs, smooth-
coated otters and Indian giant squirrels are common.

Khangchendzonga
Biosphere Reserve
Khangchendzonga National Park is home to nearly
half of India's bird diversity, wild trees, orchids and
rhododendrons and one third of the country's
flowering plants. It contains the widest and most
extensive zone of krummholz (stunted forest) in the
Himalayan region.
-SIKKIM-
Kitam Bird
Sancturie
Dotted with pine forests and flowery fields, this
Sanctuary is home to more than 200 species of birds
and butterflies. Every nature lover's paradise,

Sanctuary is one of the best things to do in Sikkim.
