Good evening teacher and classmates, I’m Stephany Quijano, today I am going to talk

about my ALP.

I’m going to talk to you about the movie “Catch Me If You Can” in case you haven’t seen
it, in short it’s about a teenage scammer who successfully poses as an airline pilot, a
surgeon and a lawyer.

He was only a teenager when he decided to escape a broken family home. If he had
not suffered with his parents’ divorce and running away from home, he would not
have become a criminal. And began a criminal career by assuming identities, forging
checks, and becoming a virtuoso of deception and imposture. The final amount of his
misdeeds earned him more than three million dollars. Perhaps his wish was to
continue scamming more people and earn more than that.

The consequences were that police officer Carl Hanratty was investigating Abagnale,
since when this boy became a pilot he delivered bad checks to several states. They had
their first meeting at the hotel where this pilot was staying, but he posed as an agent
and when he least expected it, Carl had been deceived into believing that this pilot was
the young scammer they were looking for. As they had already discovered his true
identity, what he did was retire from being a pilot but before that he returned to scam
some more states and ended up at a hospital realizing that the receptionist was new so
he got information from her and the next day he presented his resume and were
impressed by his record as a surgeon, his second meeting with Carl and Agbanale was
when he married the nurse who had helped him from the beginning, on their wedding
day he showed up and ran away again. But yes, when he was in love with the girl, her
father was a lawyer, so he decided to become a lawyer, watching cases, debates,
trials about what position to take for each case, defense of the accused, the guilt,
the verdict, etc. . Besides, he read some books and in two days he graduated with
honors.
After his second meeting with the agent, he resumed his career as a pilot, interviewing
several girls to hire them as stewardesses so that they could accompany him at the
airport and distract the police. Thanks to this, he was able to leave the United States
and head to France. His mother’s country staying in her mother’s town.
In the movie it ends with the policeman and the scammer become friends and together
they catch the scammers. But how? Easy when France arrived the police chased him,
found him and made him return to the US to serve his sentence.
I think this movie should have taken a different turn, when he fled to France, he
shouldn’t have stayed at his mother’s house because it was obvious that they were
going to find him there, he would have stayed somewhere else and could have
continued with his life of scamming. To several states, forging checks, identities, etc.

Another way in which this film could have ended is that he would have remained a
lawyer, because he prepared himself, studied, and just as he said, not everything was
earned thanks to his ability to forge checks, but also to his intellectuality, because he
prepared, studied and graduated as a lawyer, he can go to another country, learn the
laws and continue with her magnificent life.

For example, one of his mistakes as this successful scammer was trusting someone. If
he had not trusted Amy, who was his wife, he would have escaped to France
successfully, because she betrayed him.

Another mistake was that when he posed as a surgeon he didn’t like blood. If I had
studied medicine, I would have been a surgeon. But for everyone, I was an excellent
doctor because he simply falsified the documents but he did not prepare like that when
he posed as a lawyer.

In conclusion, after serving his sentence he resumed his life and with the help of the
police they became criminal investigators. Furthermore, he repented and realized his
mistakes while in prison. I wish he had realized it in time and not lost many years of his
life behind bars, but when he completed his sentence, he got married and had 3
children.

Thanks
